More June Something, more other stuff
Jun. 25th, 2023 04:46 pmDay 7: Who was the first villain you admired, even if only a little? Why?
I'm going to have to pass on this one, I'm sure there was one, but I just can't think of them right now.
Day 8: Tell me something about the last fandom thing you wrote. Or the last thing you read. Or the last thing you recced. Or all of them.
But this one I can do, because the last thing I wrote was an actual fic, beta read and everything. It's my Ted Lasso/Hawkeye story I wrote for
intoabar I used to be very prolific in my popslash and especially bandom days, but that tailed off as I waited for my next big thing. I still wrote, but only very occasionally, and hadn't done so for ages when I decided to join the challenge.
I was thrown when I was given the Eleanor Bishop to meet with Roy Kent assignment, but after the initial, what the hell do I do here? It was fun to think of a situation to get them together. I never expected big kudos or comments as it's such a niche thing to write, but I got some comments that made me smile so much and someone saying I'd captured Roy's voice well, which is such a good thing to read when you're sticking your toe in a new fandom. So yes, I remain very proud of the last thing that I wrote.
We should get Rosie back tomorrow, no idea when but it'll be good to have our own car back. The hire car has been great, but it's always good to have your own car, where you know there's a spare carrier bag in the boot or a pound coin in the door to get a trolley.
James also has a hospital appointment in the afternoon so I'm hoping the car is back before that or we'll have to mess on changing the registration for blue badge parking.
We've been to see No Hard Feelings at the cinema this afternoon, which was okay. Funny in parts but nothing special. We also saw Book Club, the Next Chapter, the other day which pretty much has the same review from me.
Coming out of the cinema and its air conditioning was a shock as it's horribly humid right now. Heavy rain and thunderstorms have been warned for all day but while the dark clouds are there, there's no rain or thunder yet.
I've been watching the Glastonbury sets and so far have enjoyed Lewis Capaldi -- to an extent, you could see he was struggling a lot and I think it's good he's announced he's taking more time off, Guns N' Roses, Foo Fighters and especially Tom Grennan. No doubt I'll end up watching Elton John live tonight, apparently he's going to have four special guests, wonder if one will be Dave Grohl who seems to be popping up everywhere.

Date: 2023-06-26 12:17 pm (UTC)Bummer about Book Club as I was hoping that would be good. I remember really enjoying the first one.

Date: 2023-06-27 08:46 am (UTC)I loved Book Club for the characters, it's rare to have a whole film devoted to mature ladies, all of whom looked incredible I have to say. But it just didn't feel as good as the first one for some reason. It was fun, and I enjoyed it, just not as much.

Date: 2023-06-27 08:39 am (UTC)That's what my beta reader thought at first, so we had fun thinking how it would have ended as a very different story *g*
Sadly Rosie isn't back and no idea when she will be right now.

Date: 2023-06-27 07:08 pm (UTC)I see from comments that Rosie sadly isn't back yet. Hopefully she will appear very soon! I'm glad James' appointment went well anyway.
I hope the awful humidity is gone by now! Hot and humid is my least favourite weather ever!

Date: 2023-06-28 06:10 am (UTC)Nope, still no car but yeah, a good appointment.
It was very humid yesterday but I think that should be changing. I've been checking the weather for next week and it seems to be around 19/20 with sun and occasional clouds, which I think is a nice mix when you're out and about.
