On Saturday it was two years today since my FiL died so we met up with my in-laws at the cafe at the top of the street where my MiL used to live and where my FiL has a remembrance plaque in the cafe grounds. It was raining heavily -- and actually rained constantly all weekend -- so the place was pretty empty, which was good as there were quite a few of us.

My MiL paid for brunch/drinks for everyone, which was lovely of her, and then we took her for a drive to the coast while everyone else went home. The cafe also has a community larder that anyone can access so I had a look through that and took home more tubs of the pigs 'n blankets instant gravy, as it seems no one else in the area likes it as there were at least fifty tubs of the stuff sitting on the shelves.

Sky tv went weird Friday night, then we got a fault saying something was wrong with the broadband. A ticket was put in and amazingly, at 8am Saturday morning an engineer from BT was here to check the line. He did so and said it was working now but the speed was half what it should have been and he thought there was some fault going on with the router, so we needed to get in touch with Sky and get a new one. So, that will be coming sometime this week.

Yesterday, due to the rain we stayed indoors and went to visit Kayleigh, Lucy and Bodhi. While there James saw one of his friends selling some In the Night Garden toy bundles for very cheap and asked Kayleigh and Lucy if Bodhi would like them. When told yes we ended up driving to buy them so one happy niece.

On the way home we also called into Company Shop to get some of the vitamins they were selling off. They were also selling Neom products and I ended up having a conversation with a lady about the original price and how we'd never pay that, but we were both dithering over the £10 Company price. But in the end we both went away with a bottle of this, and it's lovely stuff as I used it during my bath last night.

This week the plan is to finally paint the living room. Once I get started it shouldn't take that long, I've just been procrastinating about taking the first steps as they will inevitably cause chaos for a while. But, it needs doing and my MiL is coming to stay for a week soon and I want it done before that. Then, when the painting is done I can finally get the desk put up James rescued from his work and will have actual working drawers again.

I'm glad you had a nice memorial brunch at the cafe.

Pleasant surprise that they got there so quickly!

Yay for a nice bath.

Good luck with the painting.

I'm glad you're able to get together with family.

Sorry your internet went wonky, but glad it was sorted out so quickly.

That was thoughtful of James. It's always lovely to have a happy niece!

I like that shop rather sell the wonky bottles than pitch them. If the product inside is the same, who cares if the label is a bit askew, or the bottle is a bit oddly shaped?

I hear you about the procrastination, but I'm sure you'll get it done. And what a great incentive to get the desk set up!

Having a deadline for the painting is probably a good thing. It really helps to get things done! And the misery will be worth it.

While I don't mind a rainy weekend myself they always make me feel sorry for everyone who works during the week. It sounds like you'd a nice remembrance brunch anyway.

I see from comments that you already have the new router so your broadband is working properly again, yay!

All the good luck with the paint job!
