A new retail park is being built about five minutes walk from my house. You literally walk to the end of the estate, cross a road and it'll be there. There's going to be a big Tesco, a Home Bargains, a couple of yet unnamed small shops and a drive-thru. I think it'll be great for the area, but they've just started the actual foundations after months of clearing the area -- it's on top of the old pit so I imagine it took time to make the tunnels safe -- and all you can hear today is a dull thud thud thud. I hope it's just the way the wind is blowing today and not something that's going to last for months.

I met Kayleigh, Lucy and Bodhi for coffee earlier. Bodhi was wandering around wearing a toy stethoscope and gave me a check-over. Apparently my boo-boo is now fixed and all is okay. What a relief!

Came home after that and picked a bowl full of tomatoes and more courgettes before pulling the peapod plants which are all finished now. For the first time in a while, I was going to sit in the sunshine and read my book. Then the sun went behind the clouds. My take on that is, it should be fun stuff first then work.

It will be good to have a big supermarket so close when it is done. I just hope the noise isn't too bad to get to that point.

The thumping construction noise yesterday got old after a few hours. I really hope this stage doesn't last too long. I think construction starts at 9 so I'll see in about ten minutes what today will bring.

Not quite the same, but my neighbor has brought in a massive ship (we're talking actual ship, not a boat) that he's fixing up in his backyard, and it's just hammering and construction noise every spare moment he has. I hear you on the noise!

Yeah, it's going to be great having the big supermarket so close. I do wish they'd say what drive-thru will be there, though. A Tim Hortons would be nice but I suspect it'll probably be yet another McDonalds.

Oof, construction noise is no fun. But I hope having the stores nearby will be convenient once they're done.

The first stages of large building projects can be unbearably loud so you have all my sympathy. Hopefully they'll be finished with the foundations very quickly *keeps fingers crossed*

I hope so. It hasn't been so loud in the house lately, but is very noticeable when I'm outside, so I do wonder if wind direction comes into it.

The sun was very annoying hiding away. But, it's supposed to be lovely this weekend, so hopefully I will get my read in the garden!

Fingers crossed on the construction noise - although I wonder if it would eventually become white/background noise after a while, if it did continue. Course, it would be better that it didn't!

Well, the noise has continued. But, while I can clearly hear it when I'm in the garden it's never been as loud in the house since that first day. I do wonder if it's a case of the wind direction making a difference, or like you said, it becoming a white noise.
