Bodhi had her hospital check up on Thursday, and it went well. The same day, Megan—my shared with Kayleigh cat—was at the vets and a family friend had to go for what could have been a very significant hospital appointment. I'll cut for all due to medical details, including mention of cancer in terms of the family friend.
Bodhi's appointment was at Newcastle at 8:30 so it was an early start for them all. In the end, she was only in for five minutes, and they were home at 9:30. The surgeon thinks there were actually two cysts, the huge one under her tongue and a smaller one that was closer to the skin on her chin but not full at that point. That second one wasn't seen at the time and will have to be removed in the future, but he was happy to wait for three months, making sure it was totally drained and infection free before it will be scanned and plans made from there, for what will hopefully be a small, routine op.
Meanwhile, Kayleigh had made an appointment at the vets for Megan. I'll have said loads of times before, but Megan has a skin condition that means she needs monthly injections of antibiotics and steroids. They do try to make the time between as long as possible as long term use of both isn't ideal, but sometimes she has bad early breakouts, which is what happened this week.
The issue was, because it was an early and severe breakout it was an emergency appointment and the only vet available was one Kayleigh doesn't like. She's a perfectly good vet, but there was a bad appointment in the past where Kayleigh lost all trust, so she messaged and asked if I'd come along for moral support.
So off I went to the vets and Megan was quickly dealt with and is feeling better now. It's nearly time for Murphy's boosters too, so I went to book him in only to find out there's a national shortage of the booster meds. The receptionist said he can go three months over without having to restart his vaccinations, so hopefully, they'll get more in before that.
Leaving there, Kayleigh asked if I'd stay with Bodhi while she drove her bestie's mam/our family friend, to a hospital appointment. C has had breast cancer three times, and due to various things after this round of chemo we all worried it wouldn't be good news.
So, I got to hang out with Bodes for the afternoon, and amazingly, the news was, well not good, but not bad either. No spread, which had been feared, just a new kind of chemo to be used, which considering what we'd been thinking was good.
I've been burning my way through episodes of Fantasy Island this week. I had two seasons to watch and am nearly finished the first. I'm enjoying them, and how each is pretty much self-contained apart from some details, so it's easy viewing.
To end, a meme I saw around a few places.
Go through your last 5 fics and share the first and last line. Provide no context.
Where Can I Go When I Want You Around
As far as being a werewolf goes; Roy’s not the norm. For now Roy’s aware his pack has extended by one, and Roy couldn’t be happier.
Run For Your Sisters and Brothers
The thing about Charlie is, he needs a lot of help. Delicious!
Talking Bollocks
It’s not that Roy hates going out for drinks And as he watches her walk away, Roy can believe it.
By the Line that Keeps You Tethered
If anyone asks: which they won’t, because Eliot’s got no intention of talking to anyone soon, Eliot is going to say… And all Eliot can do is try to hide his smile.
I'm In Love With My Own Sins
Bucky wakes up to silence. And, for the second time that day, Bucky says, “It’s a date.”
I know I'm sort of breaking the no talking about thing, but wow, I have a pattern in terms of last lines.

I’m glad Megan’s appointment went ok despite the vet change. But damn I heard some meds were getting in short supply but didn’t know it hit vets too
That’s good there was no spread, here’s hoping the new chemo helps her!

Date: 2023-11-19 03:52 pm (UTC)Yeah, I was talking to the receptionist when she mentioned the short supply of meds, asking if it was for the same reason as human medicine and she said yeah. It's a worry because I really don't want him to have a gap in his inoculation record.
It was brilliant news about the no spread. Though, she was happier that the chemo change meant she didn't have to go to hospital the next day as they sorted things out.

Date: 2023-11-20 09:26 pm (UTC)How unfortunate there's a shortage just when Murphy needs his boosters. Hopefully the shortage will soon be ended so he can get them on time!

Date: 2023-11-22 06:01 pm (UTC)The shortage is worrying. I knew there were issues with human meds but didn't realise that had extended to animals too.
