My plan to get the decorations up failed yesterday as it ended up being a busy day, including Bodhi, Lucy and Kayleigh coming to visit. Bodhi was enamoured with the knitted Easter Bunny
turlough made for me, though was insistent it was actually a mouse, and ended up playing with it, and apparently, its twin, the computer mouse.
Today I've started to bring down the boxes, but it's taking a while as they're in the cupboard in James' craft room and I have to get them while watching out Kevin doesn't get in there.
Though, right now, Kevin is plastered against the radiator as the cat tower is against it, and one level is the perfect height for optimum huddled warmth. It has been suggested Kevin likes to sit on the fire for the heat coming from the lights, and I suspect that's right as he's at that spot on the tower as soon as the heating comes on and likes to sit on top of the Sky Box too. Plus, he's only a skinny little thing, and it is bitterly cold right now.
Things are going well with him and Murphy, they're nose sniffing and co existing nicely, to an extent anyway, Murphy didn't seem amused when he was curled in his slouch bed and Kevin tried to get in too. You'd think Murphy would stand his ground, but nope, he got up and left, letting Kevin have the bed. I've also found Kevin on top of the doors, and on top of the coats hanging up in the hall, he's got no fear at all and needs to investigate everything. So yeah, I think he's settling in nicely.
I talked to Corey a few days back, and he's had another promotion, and is now the solo head manager of the pub he works at. Which is great as it means more money, but also more responsibility, so it looks like he'll only be coming here Christmas day morning and leaving Boxing Day again.
Strictly squee now. After being in the bottom two, Layton and Nikita came back with a bang this week, though I didn't have to worry about them getting through as there were no eliminations due to another couple pulling out very last minute due to injury. One of the judges and Nikita actually had to address the excessive online hate Layton has been receiving, and really, some people need to have a word with themselves about why he offends them so much.
Next week they're dancing a Rumba and the Charleston, so I'm hoping for some filth and then some fun. Of course, someone, booked a Christmas meal with Pauline and their brother's family on Saturday evening, so I may be voting at the table and then watching the semi-final when I get home.

Date: 2023-12-04 02:23 pm (UTC)Hahaha - Ozzie has a kindred spirit in Kevin. Ozzie was up on the bedroom door at least three times yesterday, and the bathroom door twice. He never hangs out up there for long, but he does like to get up there.

Date: 2023-12-04 02:31 pm (UTC)They'd curl up with their backs touching, so they each had half, and neither had to look at the other one. I imagine Macca pretended to be alone and told herself it was a blanket or something.
I love that. That's excellent cat logic.
I was thinking of Ozzie when I found Kevin on top of the doors, and now your icon will amuse me even more. Kevin is also the most human food loving cat I've had. I'll have to be careful about the dangerous to cats stuff as he's already eaten a full chip, pasta, cream cheese and yoghurt. All done by him darting in and just helping himself.

Date: 2023-12-04 02:59 pm (UTC)And you never know, they say it can take up to three months for new cats to really settle in and find their place. Murphy has probably forgotten how to play with another cat! LOL
Ha! We had a cat once that loved canteloupe. If we didn't give him the rinds, he'd dig them out of the trash and lick them down to nothing. The same cat would chase you around the house for golden raisins. They were sticky so we (my brothers and I) would stick them on the wall of the breakfast room, higher and higher so he had to work a little bit to get them... Good times!

Date: 2023-12-04 06:35 pm (UTC)Poor Kevin needing to be warm. He'd probably prefer if Murphy stayed in the bed for shared bodyheat! And I just imagined a Murphy & Kevin 'there was only one bed' or 'huddling for warmth' fic, lol! I'm glad they're getting along otherwise.
Yay for Corey, but bummer he won't be able to be home long.

It's funny you said that as Murphy has been pushing back a little lately, and that includes gentle biting of Kevin's neck. I looked it up, and apparently it's a well known thing and as long as they don't carried away it's fine to let it go. But I was thinking if it was like seeing a werewolf fic in reality *g*

Date: 2023-12-04 07:07 pm (UTC)And congrats to Corey!
I liked that dance a lot! More than the last one but not as much as the rooftop one, I think :P

The rooftop dance has remained one of my favourite this season. I can't even say how many times I've watched it now as I lost count a long time ago. I don't even know why exactly, but it hit me just right and I love it.

Date: 2023-12-05 08:31 pm (UTC)Just the thought of a young cat in a wood craft room makes me shudder! Though I'm sure Kevin would love to explore it :-)
It's so good to hear Kevin and Murphy are already being so friendly. And if they're this cosy after only a week they're going to be fabulous friends in a month!
Big congratulations to Corey! He's really settled in well as a grownup. It's both heartening and slightly scary - it's no way he can be that old already ;-)
Whoever did something so silly ought to get a stern talking-to!

Date: 2023-12-11 09:05 am (UTC)I suspect what it is about your Easter bunny is its ears are back, like a lop rabbit and she's only seen the kind with sticking up ears. Whatever it is she remains obsessed with it, and its computer mouse twin, picking both up as soon as she arrived the other day.
I don't want Kevin anywhere near the spare bedroom and all the wood stuff. I felt bad the other day as Murphy liked to sit on the windowsill in there. But, I could trust him not to rummage in things he shouldn't, Kevin not so much.
I remain surprised at how quickly Kevin and Murphy have become close. Yeah, Murphy is still a softy and lets himself be pushed around. But they're quite happy being in the same place and playing together. Kevin's even tried to get in the slouch bed a few times when Murphy is in it, but Murphy takes up all the space.
I sometimes find it hard to believe that Corey has such a responsible job. He's so quiet that it's weird to think of him taking charge and dealing with staff, drunks etc. But I know he does, and does it well.

Date: 2023-12-07 07:07 am (UTC)Congrats to Corey on his promotion, though it's a pity he won't be able to celebrate longer with you.
And wow, that was a grand dance indeed! That fast footwork!

Date: 2023-12-10 05:17 pm (UTC)Kevin loves finding warm spots, but I do worry that he loves sleeping between us in bed so much. He's so small, it's always a concern he'll get squashed by accident.
Congrats to Corey on his promotion, though it's a pity he won't be able to celebrate longer with you.
I'm very proud of him, but yeah, his job means his schedule is so busy and different to ours. He pretty much stays up all night working, so it can be difficult to even find a good time for phone calls.
And wow, that was a grand dance indeed!
I love it so much!
