Dec. 12th, 2023 10:29 amWe went to see Wonka yesterday and it was pretty great. To be honest, it was always going to appeal to me as I love a musical, but I also enjoyed playing spot the British actor as there were loads of known faces in supporting roles. I did spend a lot of time wondering how I knew one of the main bad guys, then when talking on the way home realised it was Mathew Baynton, who I mostly know from Ghosts.
I also loved Timothée Chalamet as Wonka, he brought the character to life beautifully and made me smile often.
I watched the final new Who episode last night, and enjoyed the surprises. Then found a Musketeer writer I've read in the past, but not for a long time, so binged on their excellent h/c bingo series that felt like new stories appearing just for me.
Now Strictly! I'm so incredibly pleased that Layton and Nikita have made the final -- and yes, that means I'll stop going on about this after the weekend. Mainly, I was pleased that they got there without having to be in the dance off, and their amazement at that was lovely to see. I honestly don't know how Layton hasn't buckled under the strain, and wish he wouldn't read the horrible comments on social media. I mean, he keeps responding with dignity, but it has to take a toll.
So, they did two dances, a rumba and Charleston, and while the rumba was lovely I'm just going to embed the Charleston because it's so much fun.
It's James' works meal out this Saturday, so he won't be in for the final. He asked if I was going to wait to watch on the Sunday with him, and yeah, that won't be happening.

Ha, yeah. I was never going to wait to watch the final. Plus, on a practical level, Strictly is such a big show here that the winner will be announced on radio/tv/social media, so I'd need to do a total blockout to not get spoiled.
