Feb. 3rd, 2024 02:02 pmIt was a day of appointments yesterday.
Kevin was at the vets for 9:30, though it turned up to be a bit of a wasted appointment. He was supposed to be getting the second part of his starter vaccination jab, but because he's on antibiotics right now, they decided he couldn't have it. Which was a little frustrating as I'd specifically asked on Tuesday if I should bring him for his second jab and that vet said it would be fine. But, it was another vet yesterday, and she said she'd rather he wait. Thankfully, Kevin has no issue about going to the vet at all so wasn't stressed, but obviously, it would have been better not to have gone at all.
Then in the afternoon I had my annual blood tests, though those were a quick in and done. After that we were preparing for a wait as James had an appointment with the doctor at the same place, but an hour later than my appointment. But, he'd booked in when I did, and as the doctor had a bit of spare time he was literally buzzing James to go in as I was coming out of the nurse's room.
James has been having issues with his ankle, so much so he's been using his walking stick lately. He's had his ankle surgically fused for a long time and wears a solid splint, so we didn't think it was sprained or anything but figured it was best it was checked out. None of our usual doctors were available, but the one he saw seems to think it could be an AMC flair starting, which I'm dubious about as they never start in his ankle. But who knows, it could be happening that way this time. Not that the doctor could do anything apart from refer James to the hospital limb specialist. So, we're expecting that appointment next year sometime.
Then from there we met Kayleigh, Lucy, and Bodhi for coffee. We didn't stay that long as Bodhi was under the weather and just wanted her mams. I suspect it'll be the first of many bugs she'll get now she's at nursery.

You knew it was coming, but
I'm sure this was expected. But the reason I'm talking about this now is, I was watching an episode of Inside the Factory earlier this week, and they were at the Lush factory.
I love taking baths, especially lobster baths, i.e., the kind that are so hot you come out, and your skin is bright red. I also love bath products, bath bombs, bubble bars, bubble bath, bath salts, if it smells nice and colours the water I'm there for it. I've also discovered whipped soap lately, which is very nice stuff.
I buy from all over, but Lush is my favourite. I support the ethos of the company and while I don't go as often now due to expense, I do love checking out all the new products. I also stock up as much as I can in the half price Boxing Day sale, so am well stocked up right now.
I know Lush isn't for everyone, and the sales staff are pretty full on, but I tend to head them off by saying I know the products, and am just in the shop to check out the new stuff. My favourite scent from there is Karma, I've worn the perfume for years, love the body lotion, and am still wishing that one day they'll bring back the karma bubble bar which was amazing.
Having pretty coloured, glittery bath water just makes me happy.
While I couldn't find the episode of Into the Factory I was watching to share, I did find videos showing inside the Lush factory, and while I wish the stuff wasn't as expensive, you can see why it is when everything is hand made. I love the little touches like the stickers on the products to show who has made them, and just enjoyed watching the products be made.

Date: 2024-02-03 02:13 pm (UTC)Before Christmas I was tempted by the Barbie bubble bars which were shaped like a shoe, sadly I never got one, which I feel was a mistake!

Sounds like an exhausting day X_X

Date: 2024-02-03 03:07 pm (UTC)I love Karma so much! Even though my sister insists on calling it hippie juice *g*
Three appointments in one day were a lot.

Date: 2024-02-03 03:18 pm (UTC)That episode of Inside The Factory really made me want to use one so I'm going to have to poke their website and see if I can find one that doesn't seem like it would be too bad - although Li did offer to make me one, and put some CBD in it so that's tempting.

Date: 2024-02-03 03:29 pm (UTC)Eight bath bombs is an excellent haul. I hope you enjoy them all.
I've been to the Boxing Day sales in person twice, and people go crazy! Some even lined up at like, five in the morning so they could be first in the queue for the 9am opening, then staggered out with hundreds of pounds worth of products. They must be the British version of your aunt.

Whatever you decide, I hope you enjoy it, and what a lovely offer from Li.
Plus, wasn't that episode good? Gregg looked like he was having a lot of fun making the products. Though, I suspect it would get tiring after a while.

Date: 2024-02-04 03:44 pm (UTC)I'm glad James' appointment worked out to be so quick, when the appointments in general were a bit of a faff, fingers crossed his ankle resolves easily.
awh, poor wee Bodhi - I know it's ultimately better for them to be exposed to common or garden less worrying viruses when they're small, and to build up their immune systems, but it's such a shame when they're just feeling subpar.

Date: 2024-02-04 04:15 pm (UTC)I couldn't believe that James was seen so quickly. We'd both expected an hour plus wait for his appointment, so him getting in so fast was amazing.
Bodhi just couldn't be bothered with anything. She's normally all over me, but just wanted to be with her mams that day. Like you said, it is better they are exposed to the viruses, but it isn't nice when it results in them being off colour.

Date: 2024-02-04 09:12 pm (UTC)I really hope James' ankle being a bother isn't a sign of a flare-up! I'll keep my fingers crossed for him!
Poor Bodhi, but yeah, almost certainly just the first of all the new fun ailments she'll catch at the nursery.
I had actually thought Lush would be what you mentioned on the first day but I guess your newest love took precedent this time ;-)

Date: 2024-02-05 07:37 am (UTC)I still can't see how a flair would start in James' ankle, but nothing has got worse from last week so I'm taking that as a good sign.
I'm sure Bodhi will be poorly a lot now she's at nursery.
Ahahaha, yeah, I am rather predictable in my loves. I need to think of something new for the rest of the month.
