Feb. 17th, 2024 04:13 pmThank you,
ephemera, for the excellent Camp Sparkle/cat birthday card. It really was perfect, and I loved seeing such beloved faces on the photo card looking up at me when I opened the front door ♥
It's not my birthday yet, but I decided as it's a big one, part of the celebrations would be to, over the next week, go visit all the cat cafés/and maybe the one dog café, in the area. We did the first today, going to You Meow Café which is in the Chinatown part of Newcastle. And tomorrow we have a booking for Mog on the Tyne.
I had an excellent visit and posted some photos on my Insta, but will wait to post them here as I'll do a catch-all as part of my February Loves meme at the end of the week.
Came home from there and had to pick up my card and present from Pauline, then from there went to Kayleigh's as she's at work tomorrow and wouldn't be able to see me then. I was shocked to get a basket of stuff from them, a big candle, bookshop gift card, a best auntie mug from Bodhi, Lush bath bomb, a Toblerone and magnesium bath salts that I'd been discussing with Lucy a few weeks ago. I saw it and just thought, yeah, they know me.
Getting the card from A gave me the perfect topic for the February things I love meme.

Camp Sparkle! For those that don't know, Camp Sparkle was born way back in the day when popslash fans got together for a weekend. Since then
pensnest and
nopseud have run a week-long Camp in various locations around the UK, only missing during Covid lockdown times.
I haven't been to them all, and at this point it's not focussed on popslash at all, as nearly everyone that goes have gone onto new fandoms. But that doesn't matter, these people are my friends, my tribe, and it's such a shame that they're scattered worldwide.
Camp is a place for multiple hugs, silliness, watching stuff that makes you laugh and just hanging out with people who don't mind that you're not talkative. It's people who have never been into bandom running out to tell you that Mikey Way had just performed with FOB, then searching for the footage for you and playing it on the TV. It's multiple laptops and ereaders plugged in charging, it's eating together in the evening and eating toast first thing in the morning and saying good morning as people shuffle in. It's just Camp, and I love it.
