Feb. 26th, 2024 02:14 pmThe week of cat ( and dog ) café visits is over, though I had to change the order as my MiL asked if we could take her out on Saturday and we needed one of the cafés that had no steps to get into. So, the last one we went to was The Pawsome Cafe in Durham which is on the flat. She seemed to enjoy the visit, and the staff were great, and very patient, as we got my MiL, plus her wheelchair, through the double door system, and into the café.
I'll share photos later, but the other visits have also gone well, though we had a bit of a drama when the leg of James' chair collapsed at Catpawchio, sending him to the floor. He's okay, but was the focus of a lot of attention for a while.
Other than café visits, I went out for lunch with Pauline and Michelle on Tuesday, and went to Wagamamas followed by a cinema visit on Thursday. We saw The Iron Claw, which wasn't what I expected, and was pretty bleak.
Friday the boiler man was here doing a service, and then we have to wait in for James' new -- second hand -- recliner to be delivered. Which it was, even though one of the delivery men tried to say there was no way it would fit into the house. Thankfully, the other two delivery men overruled him and said it would, and they were right. That day was supposed to have been our at home, relaxing day, but Kayleigh asked if I could watch Bodhi while they went shopping then asked if we wanted to go out for dinner after, which we did. So goodbye, relaxing day.
Saturday was the day out with my MiL, and she paid for lunch and a cocktail after the cat café. Then yesterday was the usual Sunday grocery shopping, then a visit to Kayleigh's followed by a trip to the theatre to see Aladdin, which was a sell out, every seat taken, and pretty great. Though, we nearly missed the show as we thought it was a 7:30 start, and it actually started at 6.
Thankfully, we had a booking for dinner at the restaurant next door to the theatre, so had got there early. So, when we saw people actually going in, thought we'd better check the tickets. And yep, we would have been so late if we hadn't booked that meal. It did mean no delicious Italian food though, instead we had an overpriced tub of crisps, which were tasty, but not a patch on the planned meal.
So, the birthday week of fun stuff is over, but I still have something to look forward to in a few months.
I've tickets booked to go see Graz's -- a current Strictly pro -- show Believe at The Firestation in Sunderland. It's a smaller venue, and I'm looking forward to it a lot.

Date: 2024-02-29 09:00 pm (UTC)No, that doesn't sound like a very relaxing day. It was probably worth it though, right?
What a pity you didn't get to eat delicious food before the show. I hope the show was extra fun to make up for it!

Date: 2024-03-04 12:59 pm (UTC)Oh yes, I enjoyed the day with Bodhi, Kayleigh and Lucy. Very unexpected, still.
I enjoyed Aladdin. It wasn't the best show I've seen at the theatre, but it was a lot of fun.
