Mar. 4th, 2024 11:21 amI got excellent mail from
misbegotten this morning. Such a good start to the day ♥
Last week I went with Kayleigh to pick Bodhi up from nursery, so I knew where it was and the process of actually picking her up. I get her for the first time next week, but am doing full day Bodhi sitting both Thursday and Friday this week, eight to six, then three more times over the rest of the month. Lucy's mam used to do back up baby sitting but isn't on the shared schedule at all, so I'm not sure what's gone on there.
I also went to an Indian restaurant with Pauline, James, and my brother. Also, amazingly, my brother's partner, who normally swerves any family meet ups. It turns out Chris' business partner has left so he's fitting kitchens solo right now, though intends to take on my nephew as an apprentice when he leaves school in May. What I get from this is, the finishing touches of my kitchen are a lost cause and I may as well get them sorted myself.
We went to see Dune 2 and I wondered if James would get much out of it as he slept through the first one. I shouldn't have worried, as he slept through this one, too. I really enjoyed it though, so his loss.
Talking of James. He was making dinos yesterday and managed to spray paint himself green. How I have no idea but the backs of his arms were bright green and when he asked me to wipe off the top of his head the tissue came away green, too. All I can think was, he was spray-painting into a slight breeze. Whatever it was, it amused me.
Nikita from Strictly is going into the Celeb Big Brother house. This means I'll have to watch.
Gladiators remains made of win.
I need to decide if I'm joining the h/c exchange this year. There are a few fandoms I could do, but still, decisions.
Today I'm waiting for a phone call from the vet
Kevin has always been greedy for food but has been getting even worse lately, to the extent he's scrabbling for leftovers in the bin. I do worm him, and have done since he arrived, but I suspect he does have worms and when I talked to the receptionist at the vet she said sometimes the over the counter stuff just isn't strong enough.
She also said she'd ask the vet to prescribe something, and we could pick it up. This was Friday when James was off, so I expected to just pick up the tablet a few hours later. Only when I phoned to chase that up, they said a vet nurse would phone me on Monday instead, so we could have a talk and decide which meds would be best. Which is fair enough, but it would have been nice to get a phone call or message to say that was going to happen.

Date: 2024-03-04 06:31 pm (UTC)I need to catch up on Gladiators - we're a couple of episodes behind again, it's one Li and I watch remotely together, on video chat while we watch, but with her living room ceiling leaking, her TV is (sensibly)unplugged.

Date: 2024-03-05 08:47 am (UTC)Yeah, having the tv unplugged is a must I'm sure. I feel for Li, leaks are the worst. But, you have a lot of Gladiator ridiculousness -- and Giant's thighs! to look forward to on catch up.

Date: 2024-03-05 08:49 am (UTC)Well, the vet sent a text message to say the worm meds had been prescribed and to pick them up when I could, no talk needed. So, we'll get them later today.

Date: 2024-03-11 11:31 am (UTC)Yeah, it does sound like my brother is going to be busy. So, if I ever want those finishing touches done I really will have to do them myself, or pay someone to do so.

Date: 2024-03-06 04:55 pm (UTC)I feel for your brother having lost his partner but yeah, you will probably have to make those finishing touches to your kitchen yourself.
James sleeping at the movies is such a hardy perennial :-D
A green James would totally have amused me too!
The things you do for your boys.
Of course you should enter! It's a challenge MADE for you.
I see from your comments you didn't need to talk to the vet after all. I hope Kevin will soon be back to his normal level of greedy *keeps fingers crossed*

Yeah, they won't take long but it's stuff I don't have the skills to do. So, I suspect I'll have to find a handyperson and pay to get them done.
How James sleeps at the cinema I'll never understand. I'm sure he just switches off when it's something he doesn't really want to see.
Kevin is a little better. Still very food focussed and greedy, but I suspect that may just be him.

Date: 2024-03-11 11:34 am (UTC)They're such loud films on occasions too. I swear, he can sleep through anything.

Date: 2024-03-07 12:55 pm (UTC)I hope Bodhi-sitting goes well. (Since you're doing full days, she doesn't have nursery on some days?)
I'm glad things were sorted about Kevin's meds and he's right as rain soon.

Date: 2024-03-11 11:35 am (UTC)Bodhi does go to nursey but only for two half days at the moment. It would have been ideal if I babysat on those days, but the nursey is based near where Kayleigh and Lucy work, which means a car journey. So, they swap shifts so they can pick her up and I get at home days.
