Mar. 11th, 2024 03:14 pmThank you
dine for the postcard and message. I do enjoy mail from you ♥
It was Mother's Day yesterday and my nocturnal kidlet phoned at 2pm, which suggests he called as soon as he opened his eyes. Earlier we'd been to see my MiL and Kayleigh had put a little shout-out to me on FB from Bodhi, which was unexpected, but very nice to see.
Bodhi sitting went well last week. On Thursday, as we'd bought a car seat, we went out and about in the car for the first time, to a play café first and then to Morrisons for a quick and cheap dinner ( kids eat free there which is a plus when you have a toddler who doesn't eat much at all ) then to the actual park. Though we didn't stay long as it started to rain and was really cold, too.
Friday I was babysitting solo, one of the highlights of which was being invited to a tea party inside Bodhi's fairy castle wendy house in her bedroom. I was dubious about actually fitting through the openings but managed to get inside, along with countless stuffed animals. I also managed to get out, if in a very undignified way.
It was our second visit to the weight management programme on Tuesday
I'd lost 17 pounds, James 6, so we were both happy with that. Especially so considering we'd both been out for multiple meals over my birthday week.
The programme has three locations, but the one in my town doesn't have a dedicated person in charge. The lady we've been seeing comes in for the consultations from another location, but the nutrition and exercise classes don't run due to the lack of staff.
I've been keeping up with the recipes and talks via the emails that are sent out. But from the end of the month they're getting a new full-time person who will cover our location, so all classes will run. I asked what was involved and was assured I was quite capable of doing the exercise part of the classes, but still, I'm very tempted to go to the talking -- or listening on my part -- side and attempt to sneak out for the rest.
Next weigh in is in six weeks, until then, keep on doing what we're doing.
It's my lymph appointment tomorrow, and I've just phoned to double-check my transport is booked, and of course it isn't. If I hadn't checked, I would have been waiting like an idiot. So now I have to wait for the receptionist to phone back after she gets in touch with the transport coordinator. At a push Kayleigh is off tomorrow, and will probably be able to take me, but it's frustrating when this was supposed to have been booked at the same time as my appointment.

Date: 2024-03-12 07:28 am (UTC)Well, in the end I had to ask Kayleigh to give me a lift, as otherwise they'd have to change the appointment as no transport was available. Considering I've been waiting for months now, I wasn't going to do that.

Date: 2024-03-12 11:52 am (UTC)It's great that you were able to do things outside the house with Bodhi. I chuckled at the image of you trying to get into and out of the castle as I could picture myself in the same situation.
Congrats on the weight loss! I'm glad the program is going well for both of you.
How frustrating about the transport. It's fortunate that Kayleigh was available to drive you.

Date: 2024-03-12 12:25 pm (UTC)It was a bit of a squeeze getting in and out of that castle. The stuffed animal pile didn't help either. They did make a nice invisible cup of tea though, so guess I can forgive them *g*
Thank you again.
Yeah, I would have been stuck if Kayleigh wasn't off today. They did suggest rescheduling, but I've been waiting months for this appointment. So wasn't keen on that idea.

Date: 2024-03-15 03:31 am (UTC)Oh gosh, Bodhi is at that fun age of make believe and tea parties, isn't she? That's so adorable <3
Well done on the weight management! Is it an NHS based programme? I went to an NHS one in Glasgow years ago but it was so early in the morning and a bit out the way for me (two buses there and two home), so it didn't work out for me, sadly. I'd love to give it another goal if they were to have something closer.

Date: 2024-03-15 01:13 pm (UTC)Yep, Bodhi really is at that age. She has lovely conversations between her plastic and plushie animals, and they're always having tea parties. What does make me laugh is she seems to have a blank in terms of using her imagination in terms of names. I'll ask what her cow is called to be told 'Cow' *g*
The weight management is done on the NHS programme and I actually like how it's done. You see someone in person every six weeks and set out small, achievable goals. Then have the optional drop in sessions weekly with the gentle exercise and discussions. I'm lucky in that the nearest location is a five-minute walk away for the individual session, but the lack of staff meant the drop ins are being held in the other two locations which would take ages to get to via bus.

Date: 2024-03-15 04:49 pm (UTC)Sounds like both you and Bodhi had a fun time. The tea party in particular sounds delightful.
Congratulations to you both! You're totally awesome! It's very good to hear someone will cover your area properly soon. I'm sure you can do the classes! All the good luck keeping up!
I see from comments that Kayleigh stepped up and drove you to the appointment. (So frustrating that they had "missed" your transport booking.) I'm happy the appointment went well despite not going at all like you expected!

Date: 2024-03-20 01:50 pm (UTC)Thank you! It was a lovely surprise, nothing I expected to see at all.
The tea party with Bodhi was fun, it was nice sitting in her princess tent, even if I was sharing it with far too many fluffy stuffed animals.
It's very good to hear someone will cover your area properly soon.
It is great news. The new person has been shadowing the other two leaders from the other locations, so it looks like she'll be ready to start her drop in classes soon. I like the idea everyone will be starting new together.
Yeah, Kayleigh did drive me to my appointment, which was a relief because I would have been stuck otherwise as the hospice is in an out of the way area. Which makes sense I guess, as they'll want somewhere very quiet.
