Apr. 2nd, 2024 04:51 pmCatch up on the last few days.
Thursday we took my MiL out for the day and ended up driving to Barnard Castle via the moors. The sheep and lambs are allowed to wander free up there, so it was a slow drive on occasions as they stood in the middle of the road.
From a very wet start to the day, the sun came out, and we actually ended up eating lunch outside at a deli we like, where it was quite warm in the direct sunshine.
Friday, we took Bodhi to the play café for the Wonka experience, and she had a lot of fun. It was organised chaos throughout, and she was a bit taken aback when she first saw the Oompa-Loompas, but she eventually got used to them and took part in the Easter Egg hunt and a few games. The one thing that made me shake my head a little was how one set of adults got far too competitive hunting for eggs. Which was stupid as you were given a list of eggs to find which were then swapped for a goodie bag at the end, so it's not like there was a time limit, or you got more for finding more eggs. That didn't stop a grown adult pushing in front of Bodhi to grab an egg she was about to pick up.
After dropping her back home, we headed to Newcastle to see Corey for a bit, handing over his Easter chocolate from us and various family members.
Saturday I went to spend the book token I was given for my birthday, and also called in Lush as instead of an egg my MiL had given money and I wanted to buy the new Shrek gingerbread man bubble bar. Only, to find out it was an online, apart from a few flagship shops, thing. So, no gingerbread bar, but I did come out with a new bubble bar and a handful of tester freebies. Then, after leaving there, went to show proof at The Firestation venue that I'm entitled to the carers discount so we can pick up our tickets to see Graz from Strictly's show, which is on next week.
Getting there we found out they were having a street food mini event and as it was a lovely, sunny day, and quite warm in the courtyard, shared a bowl of Masala chips and ended up chatting a long while to a family who turned up with their excellent dogs.
Plus, Gladiators final on the night, which I enjoyed a lot.
Sunday we dropped off Bodhi's chocolate and spent some time with her, Kayleigh and Lucy before heading out to pick up Pauline and her daughter as she was buying us lunch. It was a nice meal out, and it was good to spend time with them. Though, it was busy at the pub.
Yesterday, it was grocery shopping, then as it was raining all day, we sorted through the drawers, getting rid of old paperwork and sorting things out. Which meant we finally found the red lights bulbs, so I could change the light in the fire, which has been off for weeks now.
So yeah, a nice Easter. Though, I still don't have my new compression wraps. Turns out, what they meant when they said they were at the chemist was the script was at the chemist, and they still needed to be made. So, hopefully again, I'll get them in about 10 days.

Date: 2024-04-03 11:10 am (UTC)I can't believe those adults (who apparently didn't understand how the egg hunt worked), especially that one who took an egg from Bodhi. How frelling rude and childish. Arrgh! I'm glad she had fun, though.
Saturday sounds fun (books, Lush and a food fair thingy)!
That is super frustrating about the wraps.

Date: 2024-04-03 11:26 am (UTC)Yeah, I was shocked at the group of adults, especially the one who blatantly took one from in front of Bodhi. But, it was a good day, made even more so for being free.
Saturday was lovely. It's been a while since I've had an excuse to buy new books. I tend to buy second hand, so having a book voucher and a whole shop to pick from was great.
Frustrating is right. By the time I get them, it's going to be a month after my appointment.

Date: 2024-04-04 11:21 am (UTC)If they had a single start time, they should change and let all the kids who can pick up their own eggs first, then a few minutes later, those who need assistance from their parents with a rule that they can't grab something another kid is going for. I mean, sorry, but if a kid can't even grab eggs themselves, they're not going to remember it anyway. At least Bodhi seems to have taken it in stride and had fun.

Date: 2024-04-05 03:07 pm (UTC)I agree with everything you say.
They actually did that for the games later, splitting them agewise, so should have done the same for the hunt really.
Hopefully, they'll remember for next year and have a bit more organisation going on.

Date: 2024-04-04 06:00 pm (UTC)I'm glad to hear Bodhi had fun at the play café Wonka experience. But really, grownups pushing in front of a little kid just to grab an egg??!! Sometimes I despair of humanity!
Sad about you missing out on the gingerbread man bubble bar but it sounds like you managed to find other goodies instead. (I would have been VERY suprised if you hadn't ;-)
Yeah, sounds like you had a very nice Easter, yay! I'm keeping everything crossed you'll get your stays asap!!

Date: 2024-04-05 03:05 pm (UTC)I still don't get those adults pushing in front of kids to get eggs. It makes no sense, and achieved nothing.
The lady in Lush said I could order the gingerbread man online, and yeah, I could, but I wanted my hit at the time so went for something else. So, came out with a nice rainbow bubblebar.
It was a good Easter, and thanks for the crossed fingers, I'll be going to the chemist tomorrow, see if there's any sign of them turning up.
