Catching up on the last week.

Monday it was the weight management class, and we talked about salt, which was actually surprisingly interesting.

That day was also James' foot appointment at the hospital, which was the quickest appointment ever. Literally, we went into the consultation room, the nurse told him to take off his shoe and splint, so I did that. The consultation came in, asked what was the issue, James said he'd had aching joints, but they had got better since he'd lost some weight. At which point the consultant said it was probably arthritis and there was no point doing anything surgical as he'd cause more harm, then left.

Thing is, he's probably right as James' foot is a mess of fused bones and messed up ligaments, but he could have taken more than a minute to say so. On the positive side, we didn't wait long to see him and got to chat to one of the nurses we know from that department and catch up.

Tuesday was Bodhi sitting and also the anniversary of my FiL's death, so we met for brunch and sat outside in the sunshine. It was good but a bit loud for Bodes who met a load of new to her people, all of whom wanted to speak to her. So I think she was pleased when we left to go to the park. It was a beautiful day that day, so the park was busy, but what I liked was it had a load of adaptive play items for kids in wheelchairs. Including a roundabout I went on with Bodhi, and man, that thing was heavy. I was standing on it and pushing with one foot, and because it was flush to the ground, it took a load of effort to move. My heart was racing when I was done.

Wednesday was also Bodhi sitting, and we ended up at the Play café. It was another gorgeous day so it was quiet in there, so Bodes pretty much had the place to herself. We had planned on going out after, but she'd had a bad nights sleep the night before and just wanted some quiet, so we called into Morrisons and bought stuff for a tea party and hung out at the house until Lucy came home from work.

She actually came home with good news that she's got a new job. It's fewer hours, for more pay, no sleep in shifts, and she can work from home at times, which is excellent and will help the child care situation. I enjoy spending time with Bodhi, but the days when Kayleigh or Lucy don't finish until 8 are very long and by the time they get back I don't get home until close to 9. So less of those will be good.

Thursday was also supposed to be a Bodhi day, but Lucy's sister said she'd look after her, so we went to see Deadpool and Wolverine instead, and it was brilliant! We had tickets for the 10:15 show and pretty much every seat was booked. There's just something lovely about being in a screen where everyone laughs and enjoys a film together, and I was buzzing watching.

I didn't know any spoilers going in, so every part of it was a surprise, and I'm glad I did that as, so much love! This was the film I'd been looking forward to most lately, and it didn't let me down at all. In fact, I suspect I'll be going back for a second viewing soon.

Friday Rosie went off to have her heating/aircon checked, so it was an at home day. The man from the garage picked her up around 10, and she came back in the afternoon. Turns out some kind of motor had broken, and they didn't actually have the part in stock, so she'll be going back again at some point next week. When, hopefully, we'll be able to use the air con again.

I also watched the Olympic opening ceremony on the night and on the whole enjoyed it. It did feel disjointed at times and dragged a little, but the later it got, the better it seemed. I especially loved the catwalk bridge and all the people on it, They were great.

Yesterday was decluttering upstairs and a short walk as it was raining heavily throughout most of the day. Now our bedroom, Corey's old bedroom both look organised and tidy, and I can shut the door on James' craft room and try to forget what's in there *g*

Ack, sounds like a frustrating appt with the consultant. Like, I know the NHS is under pressure, but I don't think that warrants being dismissive!

I'm kinda excited about Deadpool and Wolverine, although I'll wait until it's out of the cinemas (I suspect it might end up being one of my Christmas movies, given the dates). Glad you enjoyed it!

I suppose the real trouble with arthritis is that there is nothing they can do to prevent it or make it better. Unless you have a distinctive bit like a hip or a knee that can be replaced (eventually). Tell James he has my sympathies.

Good for Lucy, getting a new job!

And congrats on the decluttering. This is not a task at which I excel, so I'm always impressed when other people do it.

My goodness, the consultant didn't even do a physical examination of his foot? That seems quite abrupt indeed. I hope James does get some more relief.

Also, it sounds really good that you were able to give Bodhi some breaks when she needed them. And also that you may not have to be on childcare duty quite so much and can get a break yourself!

Wow, the consultant didn't even do a physical examination of his foot?!!!

Yay for Bodhi sitting, and also yay for having a day off from Bodhi sitting! *g*

Congrats to Lucy on the new job.

I've only recently heard of that movie, but I'd love to see it. Maybe it will come to our local theater.

Is there any way you can complain about the consultant?

Toddlers are A LOT.

Weirdly, my local movie theater isn't showing what's coming next. No poster up at all. I hate not knowing. Though it probably means the current movie will be there for the rest of my lifetime, lol!

It's frustrating to have medical personnel spend such little time with the patient. I hope James was able to have any questions answered.

I'm so glad you have Bodhi in your life... and that Bodhi has you in hers! (hugs)

Congratulations to Lucy on her new job! And go you on decluttering.

I wish I could feel more motivated to do that.

And yeah, when all else fails, close the door! LOL.

That's like the perfect example of how NOT to act when meeting a patient!! That doctor ought to get seriously shouted at by a superior!!!

I don't think I've ever seen a playground speciallly adapted for kids in weelchairs. It sounds awesome! (Sounds like you got quite a workout there :-)

Sounds like you had a couple of lovely days with perfect weather for Bodhi sitting.

Lucy's new job sounds great and just what she needs. I hope it will work out well for her.

How typical they didn't have the right part in stock! I'll keep my fingers crossed they will actually have got it by next week so you can use the aircon again.

Congratulations to a successful declutter!

Congrats Lucy! That will be so good for the whole family.

It's so lovely when playgrounds can be inclusive like that - and fundamentally not more expensive than "regular" stuff = we've a local park with one of those roundabouts (the inertia does make them pretty heavy, but I think that's also to make it safer to roll on and off?), adaptive swings and an adaptive deathslide, which is pretty impressive!
