James had his spinal injections yesterday, he also said he felt drunk when we were coming home and that a pigeon was talking to him. He only gets the injections done with local anaesthetic, so man, I'd love to know what they put in there. Though, I suspect a lot of the giddiness was relief that it was finally done and over. Also, you don't want to know how long it just took me to spell anaesthetic correctly, at least five attempts myself, then to Google I went.

Surprisingly for that hospital, there was a wait, as the consultant had turned up late. But once he did he zoomed through the waiting list of people. So, within an hour of him arriving, we were on the way home.

The appointment at the limb centre on Tuesday also went well, so as of now, neither of us have any upcoming medical appointments. Well, I have my regular lymphoedema appointment, but that's not until the first week in January, so I'm not counting it yet.

So many places shut down yesterday due to the threat of more riots. Shops, restaurants, the theatre in Sunderland cancelled both showings of Wizard of Oz. The hospitals tried to rush the outpatient clinics so staff could get home, even the Lidl across from my house closed early. So many places having to protect themselves due to a threat of violent protests. So I was glad to see things remained calm, and that in most places, the few far right protesters were far outnumbered by the counterprotesters who turned up in their thousands to protect their local areas by forming human shields around buildings that had apparently been targetted for attack.

This is a photo I enjoyed seeing last night, the police creating a ring around anti-immigration protesters. Bet those people weren't so brave throwing bottles, planks, attacking the police etc when faced with such overwhelming opposition.

I'm very curious what the pigeon had to say! *g*

I've seen some horrible photos about the rioters. Burning buildings with people in them. It's terrible. Seeing the anti-racism photos and signs made me smile a bit.

Those extremists sound so horribly disturbing. Thank goodness for the counterprotesters.

Congrats to James on making it through this last appointment, and on his new ornithological friend!

So good to hear both of James appointments went well! I agree with you, I would totally want to know what they put in their anaestehtics if it makes you hear pigeons talk :-)

Hooray for no more medical appointments for several months!!

The riots have sounded terrible! It's a great relief to hear the counterprotesters have started to appear in such large numbers. That photo is awesome! Let's show those racist fuckers what a tiny minority they are!!

I was wondering how things were in your neck of the woods with all the nasty arsehole rioters, I'm glad to see the counter protesters out and peaceful, and I've very much enjoyed seeing the sentencing coming in for the protestors, you can't lob things at people and not expect to get locked up.

Hurrah for a break from medical appointments for a while!
