Sep. 2nd, 2024 08:08 amFor the first time for a while, I have no plans today apart from going to weight management class later this morning. I intend to have a potter around the house, get ready leisurely, and then stroll to class later. Then, once back from that, continue to catch up online.
Last week was multiple Bodhisitting days, and the day I had free from that I went to see my aunt with Kayleigh and Bodes. James went back to work on a phased return, which you'd think would give me more spare time, but actually didn't at all. Then Friday my MiL came to stay until yesterday, while Saturday we did a craft fair.
The craft fair was in aid of Consett Cats, the rescue where we got Murphy and Kevin, and went very well. It was held in our vets, so there weren't that many stalls and space was limited, but James managed to sell a lot of stock and get some commissions. I won a pretty cat mug on the tombola, and a prize in the raffle. Plus, cat cuddling sessions were upstairs, and I got to see six lovely kittens, and as a bonus, none of them are coming home with me *g*
Yesterday, my MiL said she'd take us out for Sunday lunch, so we went to Prego on the sea front, and their food was delicious. We've eaten there before, but not for the Sunday lunch service, but Kayleigh raves about it, and now I see why. The only tiny issue was there were a lot of very new waiting staff who served the main course literally seconds after the starters were finished and left the dirty dishes on the table. But then the main training waiter made me laugh when he saw that, did a very elaborate grrrr complete with shaking fists in the air, and quickly cleared everything away.
Then we all went grocery shopping and for a coffee before taking my MiL home, and we came back to flump on the couch and watch TV for a while. I still need to put furniture back, as I always move some so my MiL can move around the house easier. But that can wait for now.
Lucy starts her new job tomorrow, which will eventually lead to less Bodhi sitting, but this week while she's training means three days when I'm needed. Only for a few hours in the afternoon for two of those days, but it'll be good when she has her actual schedule and everyone knows where they have to be, as everything is a bit in the air atm.
It's now September which means birthdays and a lot of autumn tv starting. I'm already a few weeks into watching Australian Masterchef, which remains a favourite, and will keep me watching for ages yet, and adverts are happening for new Strictly and Bake Off.
The first birthday of the month was fannish nieces yesterday, and she again contacted no one, and my heart ached for my MiL when I listened to her send yet another voice mail to FN's phone which won't be returned. I'll never know why she's completely ghosted her family, I'm just glad she pops up online on occasions, so we at least know she's okay.
Then today, it's mam's birthday and also Murphy's. So, happy birthday to mam, love her, miss her ♥. And also my big lump of a cat, Murph, who needs a gold star for

Date: 2024-09-02 12:51 pm (UTC)I'm glad the craft show went well and that you had a nice meal, as well as some time to rest after dropping off your m-i-l.
It's so sad that FN has ghosted her entire family.
Happy birthday to your mom. And Murphy, who is a very good boy.

Date: 2024-09-02 02:31 pm (UTC)No, I know exactly what you meant. I love spending time with Bodhi, but it has been a lot of babysitting lately.
I enjoyed the craft fair, especially as I got to talk to lots of cat people. I saw so many photos of cats on people's phones *g*
Fannish niece ghosting the family was so unexpected. It's a shame she's done so, and my heart does ache for my MiL who at one point was sending a daily voice mail, but all we can do is hope that one day, she'll get back in touch.
Murphy is now asleep next to me. It's hard being five!

Date: 2024-09-02 07:44 pm (UTC)The craft fair sounds splendidly sucessful (including escaping sans kitten!).
Your fannish niece has made a difficult choice, for her and for those who love her, I'm glad you're able to keep track of her loosely <3.
Happy birthday to your mum *raises a mug" <3
All of the gold stars and scritches for Murphy <3

Date: 2024-09-03 04:16 pm (UTC)I was surprised at how well the craft fair went, especially as it was such a small venue. And the kittens were adorable! But not for me, especially as the rule is, no more paws over the doorway atm due to cost.

Yeah, she really has. I feel for her, as I suspect she's got reasons for the ghosting, but at the same time, I wish she'd communicate directly just once, even if it's just a message.

The waiter's reactions would have made me laugh too. Poor guy, having to clean up after the newbies.
I feel so sorry for your MiL! I guess fannish niece has her reasons for ghosting her family completely but it's still hard for everyone involved.
A belated happy birthday to your mam and also to Kevin! I seem to remember someone who pestered Milo a lot when he was a youngster so I can't feel too sorry for him :-)

He was so funny and OTT in his reactions. Guess it does show he cares for his job, though.

Yeah, I also think she has reasons, but the ghosting is so complete now. I wish she'd at least reply to one of my MiL's messages and just let her know things are okay. But, it doesn't look likely that will happen.

So true! Milo also had the patience of a saint.
