Oct. 12th, 2024 09:45 amI got an email from Rosie during the week, along with an exercise routine she thinks I could do at home. She said it included strength work and stuff to get my heart rate up, and if I didn't understand any moves to get back to her. Fine I thought, I'm sure all will be okay, I mean, how hard can it be? Then saw the first thing after warm up, beast hold into downward dog….
All I can say is, I wish I had as much confidence in myself to do such things as she apparently does.
It was a Bodhisitting day yesterday. It was on Tuesday and Thursday as well, though, only for a few hours each time. Plus, Bodhi comes here rather than me going to hers. It went okay, and I've mastered going for a walk with the wheelchair and a three-year-old who needs herding at all times. Things did get a bit tricky in Lidl when I gave her one of the kiddies trolleys to push. At that point, I could have done with a few more hands. She's good though, and actually told James that he had to sit still when he stood up from his chair.
My brother did call by the other night and brought the feeding help gadget he'd made, and it actually works. Not how I was picturing it at all, but James can use it quite nicely. Slow eating, sure, but hey, it works. I said I was going to take a photo to share and James said he'd demo it so
The upright bit has very strong magnets on top. Using his mouth, James scoops or stabs anything he's eating, then attaches the spoon or fork to the magnet, meaning it sticks out, and he can lean forward and eat. Like I said, it's slow, but gives him that bit of independence.

It's Kayleigh's birthday today, and Lucy asked if we wanted to go out for tea with them. I'm not sure where, but James is very keen. I think he's getting itchy feet after not being further than the doctor's in this last week. And ha, Lucy has literally just messaged, we're going to a localish restaurant at 3:45. So, I'll be back home for Strictly, best of all worlds.
As always, The Musketeers fandom is embracing whumptober, which is excellent. Normally, I'd be wishing longer stories were being posted but right now, I'm so tired by the end of the day these bite size postings are perfect.

Date: 2024-10-12 11:44 am (UTC)I'm giggling at Bodhi telling James to sit still!
Oh, I'm glad that gadget worked!
Happy birthday to Kayleigh! I hope you have a lovely meal out.

Date: 2024-10-12 12:54 pm (UTC)Bodhi can be very strict when she wants to be. She's a good backup.
I'm glad it worked too. Though I'm sure he'll be looking forward to being able to eat normally again. You'll know yourself how frustrating that can be.
I'm looking forward to going out, Kayleigh has asked my brother too, so hopefully, he can make it.

Date: 2024-10-12 02:16 pm (UTC)I'm lucky in my case that I can stuff my face pretty quickly once I've got everything cut up. *g*
That'll be nice for you to see your brother, too.

Date: 2024-10-12 03:09 pm (UTC)it's great your brother's gadget works - how nice for James to have a bit of independence. and I smiled at Bodhi coming down stern when James 'misbehaved'
hope tea is a fun time, and you enjoy Strictly afterwards!

Date: 2024-10-13 02:49 pm (UTC)Bodhi is a grown adult in a three-year-old body. She really did tell James off and to sit down.
I had a lovely tea out, and enjoyed Strictly lots.

Date: 2024-10-12 06:17 pm (UTC)Bodhi's such a cutie. She must turn a few heads when she's getting bossy with James... LOL
I agree, I used to love long stories that I could lose myself in. I'm not sure I have the attention span anymore. Sad. But yeah, I also tend to enjoy shorter things these days. I still think that for every story out there, no matter the length or style, there's someone out there who loves it!

Exactly! I still enjoy really long stories, but tend to break them up reading wise. Mostly though, I'm going for the shorts right now.

Date: 2024-10-13 02:30 pm (UTC)Your brother is so clever! Nothing will be super fast for poor James right now, I'm sure, but that really works with what he can do, to let him do it.
I hope you had a lovely time yesterday - perfect timing for such an outing!

Date: 2024-10-13 02:58 pm (UTC)You know, I think you're right. I did do the list and could do them all. I mean, I suspect my form was off and I wasn't exactly doing them well and without a struggle. But once I was going, I just kept trying my best.
The downward dog thing also led me onto a bit of a plus size yoga video search, as I found I quite liked the stretching.

Yep, and the let him do it part is so important. It's one thing he can do right now, and that's something he needs, I think.
I did have a lovely time, thank you. We ended up at an Italian restaurant that's only a mile or so away, and the food, and company, was great. And was back well in time to get on the couch and settle for Strictly.
