Oct. 20th, 2024 02:49 pmLife is chugging on around these parts.
I watched the final of Masterchef Australia yesterday morning, not who I wanted to win, but I wasn't disappointed with who actually did win. I've also been catching up with Brassic, which remains a fun show and is surprisingly touching often. I'm up-to-date with 9-1-1 Lonestar, which I download, and saw yesterday that the first ep of season 8 of 9-1-1 is on Disney, so need to watch that. I also got caught up with Station 19, watched the last episode on Disney, thought this feels a bit final ever like, looked it up, and saw the show had been cancelled. I was not impressed. Then, of course, Strictly last night.
Bodhi was here for the morning on Thursday, so that was fun. I have to admit, it's easier to watch her in her own house, as she has her toys there. But she's happy enough drawing, watching some TV, and playing with the cats toys when she's here. She's also been here this morning for a few hours and has just gone home with Lucy. It'll be the last time we see her for about a week as she's off to stay with her grandma while Kayleigh and Lucy head off on a five night break to the Canaries tonight. Which means, cat duty for us, and a lot of buses or walking. Timing wise, it's terrible, but there was no one else to look after the cats at such short notice, so we'll manage somehow.
James is feeling better in himself but still has a load of healing to go, arm wise. It doesn't help that the robot arm has given him blisters where it was rubbing against his skin. You'd think the hospital would have provided a liner, but they didn't so a couple of days ago we were at the chemist buying some tube bandages and blister dressings. Then the bandages were too small, so he's now got stump socks with the ends cut off as liners. Also, he's gone white as a sheet each time I've had to take the brace off, so yeah, lots of healing still.
We're still getting out for a daily walk, and yesterday, he walked back from the shops, which is great. So, some positive things are happening in the multitude of things he can't do right now.
We're both missing going to the cinema, so I think we'll catch the bus and go to Durham sometime this next week. There's a bus stop literally outside of Kayleigh's house, so the plans would be, cat feeding, check the house, catch the bus and head to Odeon. Now, whether James will stay awake to actually see the film is another matter altogether.

Date: 2024-10-21 12:18 pm (UTC)The blisters sound painful and I cringed when you mentioned taking off the brace. I hope he heals soon, enough so that it doesn't hurt to do that as much.
I thought the new Venom movie looked good when I saw the preview, but I haven't seen any of the other movies. So I DVR'd them when I saw they were on tv. I still haven't seen them yet, though. o_O I hope you enjoy the movie!

Date: 2024-10-22 04:32 pm (UTC)That's so weird they didn't provide a liner to the robot arm! It sounds like you've managed to improvise a working solution though, good on you. I'm sending James ALL the soothing and healing vibes!!
I'm impressed at how active you're being despite everything. I hope you'll manage to go see a film this week. And that James stayes awake during it ;-D

I really think they should have done, as it does have quite a few hard edges. I mean, when they put a cast on they use a liner, and this is along the same lines.

He did stay awake *g* And yeah, we are being active. What with walking to and from bus stop lately, we've been walking loads.

Yeah, James is getting better each day, slowly, but you're right, he will get there.
