Nov. 23rd, 2024 02:06 pmEvery year,
turlough makes me a new knitted sparkle deer for my herd, and the latest arrived this week. Isn't it adorable!? Look at that face. Look at the delicate sparkles! I can't wait to add him to the others. Thank you so much, Turlough ♥

Well, it did snow earlier in the week and the temp dropped drastically, but the roads were clear, so we drove to the hospital on Tuesday. Despite going early, arriving at nine for a ten am appointment, we were lucky to get the very last disabled bay in the car park, as cars were double-parked everywhere, including on side roads.
Because we were early we'd planned on having breakfast in the staff/visitor restaurant, and that's exactly what we did, then off to the appointment. It was positive in some ways as the physio showed some simple exercises to build up James' shoulder, but as the report from the consultant from the appointment the day before hadn't reached the system yet, she couldn't really give any elbow exercises as while James could tell her he'd been okay'ed to release the brace, as there was nothing official to state that, she had to err on the side of caution. She did say he can't lift anything heavier than a glass of water atm, so guess I still have to carry shopping bags myself.
That day we also headed out to a local restaurant for a joint birthday celebration for my BiL and my nephew. The food was tasty and the company good. But I was very glad we didn't have to get the bus when we stepped out into the bitter cold and dark.
Wednesday turned out to be an unexpected Bodhisitting day. Lucy's job means that she can come home between calls if she hasn't many people to see. So, she dropped Bodhi off here for an hour around 1pm, picked her up again, then we went to their house for 6 and stayed until around half eight. Lucy did say she'd bring Bodhi to ours again, but I didn't like the idea of her having to be out so late, so it was just easier going there.
Yesterday we went to see Wicked, and I enjoyed it so much. Though, somehow it had escaped me that it was only half of a two film situation. Still, it was fun to watch and the hours flew by.
Today Storm Bert has hit, it's snowing heavily is very windy, and I have no intention of leaving the house. Instead, I've got a veggie soup cooking in the slow cooker, have Christmas films on as background noise and intend to get caught up online while snuggled in my Oodie.

Date: 2024-11-23 02:36 pm (UTC)Aww James, yeah it is best tower on the side of caution with these things. Hopefully he’ll be able to do more soon
I’m glad Wicked was good! But yeah it seems they kinda snuck that in. I heard it was a part 1 but it really isn’t anywhere in the marketing or anything
I hope you stay safe with the storm!

Date: 2024-11-23 03:06 pm (UTC)Yeah, it really is best to err on the side of caution. He doesn't want to reverse any of that good healing.
I really enjoyed Wicked but was surprised by the part 1 thing. I had to Google if there would be a follow on as they left it at a strange point, and yep, part two next November.
I don't intend to leave the house today. The storm can do one. How's it like down yours? Still snowing?

Date: 2024-11-24 10:45 am (UTC)Yeah exactly
It’s pretty strange they’re not clear about it. And oh that’s odd! I wonder if it was meant to be one and it just… overran.
Good idea! It’s been more rainy, especially yesterday

Date: 2024-11-23 04:08 pm (UTC)Frustrating that the report hadn't come through, but otherwise sounds like a decent appointment, and sensible parking planning on your parts. I'm so pleased James is able to drive again, too, that's SO much easier and more pleasant than trying to bus it.

Date: 2024-11-23 04:21 pm (UTC)It was frustrating that the report hadn't came through, but I understood why the physio couldn't just take our word for it. But, mostly it was a good appointment, and yeah, being able to drive there was great.
Sadly, his next appointment is 3pm which is prime visiting time, so the car parking situation will be even worse. So, I suspect, that day will have to be a bus.

Date: 2024-11-23 04:22 pm (UTC)even if he can't help haul stuff just yet, it's good that James is able to drive again,

Date: 2024-11-23 04:38 pm (UTC)The driving is such a huge help. We've both missed heading off and going where we wanted, when we wanted.

Date: 2024-11-24 08:09 am (UTC)That is a shame that the medical records hadn't been updated. You would think in this day and age they could manage that better. But I guess it's good to be cautious.
I hope you have been able to stay cozy and warm!

Date: 2024-11-24 10:47 am (UTC)I was surprised that the medical records hadn't appeared. I know they've been done now, though, as James got the copied letter from his consultant discussing the results. But, obviously, far too late for the physio appointment.
I did stay cosy and warm. Thank you :)

Date: 2024-11-24 06:24 pm (UTC)How frustrating that the report hadn't reached the therapist! I hope the shoulder exercises will do James a lot of good at least *keeps fingers crossed*
I don't mind taking the bus even when it's cold - it's the STANDING AROUND IN THE COLD WAITING FOR IT that I mind!
While we also had a taste of winter for a few days we're now back to rainy autumn again and it looks like Bert won't give us any snow either. I hope you aren't completely snowed in! And that the veggie soup turned out tasty!
