Mar. 3rd, 2025 04:13 pmMy MiL's visit went nicely, she's pretty easy to host, but still, I was glad to get in my pjs and chill last night after she'd gone home. With James being at work on Thurs and Fri, we stayed in those days. Well, she did, I had to walk to the doctors for my annual blood tests and B12 on the Thursday.
On Saturday we drove over the moors to Barnard Castle where it was market day. But amazingly, we got a prime parking spot, and it was sunny enough to eat outside. We also hit the honesty stall at the farm and came home with three trays of eggs and two bags of potatoes. One of the trays was for us, so plenty of eggs for scrambled eggs for a while.
Yesterday we went to the Italian restaurant on the seafront we like and had a Sunday dinner. Had a bit of a drive after before dropping my MiL off and going for cat litter and then home to a lobster bath and relaxing after reclaiming my recliner.
One bad thing that happened on Saturday night. James had another fall. We'd gone to bed, and he always takes his leg and splint off before doing so. For some reason, he decided to try and move the Alexa around on the chest of drawers in front of our bed, over balanced, bit hard, totally bent the hospital table that was there, knocked the drawers over, which catapulted the tv off the top, which smashed, as did an ornament I kept there.
Thankfully, apart from giving himself a fat lip he was fine physically, and insurance means we can get a new TV, but man, I did not need to hear more sounds like that.
Today was weight management class, and that went nicely. The topic was motivation and we had an interesting talk about what motivates people. The three level step was also there, complete a 8kg kettle bell to hold if you wanted to push yourself while stepping. I swear, that thing will start haunting my dreams soon!

Date: 2025-03-04 07:47 am (UTC)It was interesting to hear what kept people motivated. And to hear that so many people go all in at first, changing too many things at once, and then of course, lose motivation quickly. Small consistent changes really are the way to go.

Date: 2025-03-03 08:40 pm (UTC)Am jealous that it was sunny enough for you to eat outside, though happy for you.
That must've been scary for both of you! I'm glad James is (mostly) alright.
I'm sorry, but I had to lol at the 3-level step and kettle bell. o_O

Date: 2025-03-04 07:44 am (UTC)The temps are pretty unseasonably warm here right now, even forecast for 16C tomorrow, which I'm looking forward to. I hope your warm comes back soon, and all the snow is gone.
It was scary, the thump and sound of stuff breaking was horrible. But, it could have been so much worse, James could have easily rebroken his elbow due to the way he landed.
That 3-level step is my nemesis! I should never have told Rosie I find it challenging, I'm sure it's been used every week since *g*

Date: 2025-03-04 11:49 am (UTC)Oh, that's 60F and sounds lovely! We're supposed to be mid-40s today (but cloudy) and 50 tomorrow (but rain), so it's a mixed blessing. Still, that rain and the warmer temps will probably take care of the remaining snow.
LOL your nemesis! Rosie is writing an enemies to friends fic for you, haha!

Date: 2025-03-04 07:40 am (UTC)The insurance company were fantastic and the money to replace the tv should be through soon. There was an excess to pay, but tv prices have dropped so much since we bought the one we claimed for, we still shouldn't be out of pocket.

Date: 2025-03-03 10:30 pm (UTC)Stepping with a kettlebell! That sounds hardcore.

Date: 2025-03-04 07:38 am (UTC)Well, you can step without the kettlebell, every station always has options, but after going to class for over a year now, Rosie is aware of everyone's capabilities, so I try for the push yourself option.
What I find interesting is I can step up okay if I'm holding the kettlebell on the same side as my step-up leg. But find it impossible if I use the other leg. I assume that's something to do with balance, or a lack of it.

Date: 2025-03-04 07:15 pm (UTC)Oh no!! Even if James wasn't very hurt it must have been such a scary thing to happen for both him and you. I'm keeping everything crossed something like it will NEVER happen again!!
The three level steps strikes again! ;-D

Date: 2025-03-05 10:00 am (UTC)I really hope it never does happen again, the crashing noise was horrible, and finding him wedged down the side of the drawers just as bad.
The three level step is mean!

Date: 2025-04-24 01:39 pm (UTC)It was scary. But at least the only casualty was the tv.
