In the last few days I went to see Sinners which I really enjoyed. I'm glad I knew about the extended mid-credit scene which gave new information, as lots of people left well before that.
We also went to You Meow cat café on Sunday, and that was a nice time too. Well, mostly. We hadn't realised there was a big rugby tournament going on in Newcastle, and loads of roads were closed due to various reasons, so it took ages to get there. Plus, You Meow is the only cat café I know that allows young children entry, so it was a bit chaotic and noisy, despite how well the staff were ensuring the cats weren't affected.
That café is more expensive than the others at £11 a person per hour, but you get a drink and some biscuits/fortune cookies included with that. But why it works out best for us is I can get in free as a carer, so in terms of the remaining cat cafés, it's the best value by a long way.
Yesterday it was a bank holiday, so we'd arranged to take my MiL out for a drive. I should have cancelled really as I haven't been feeling my best for a while, and it got much worse yesterday. Nothing serious, just off a bit and what felt like a bad head cold. Of course, it got worse when no doctors were open, but, I remembered about the Pharmacy First scheme and that worked perfectly, even if it did take ages to find a pharmacy that was actually open.
But the pharmacist I saw there was great and quickly diagnosed I have bacterial sinusitis and prescribed antibiotics. There was a slight delay as she wasn't sure if she could prescribe to me due to having had a gastric bypass. But after looking it up said it was fine, just, I may have to go to my own doctor if I'm still not fully well after the course is finished as the antibiotics may not have absorbed as well, and I could need a longer course.
I'm feeling a bit better today, and have no plans for the next three days so hopefully, will feel fully better soon.

Date: 2025-05-07 03:25 am (UTC)I'm glad the pharmacist was able to assist you. I'm not sure if ours can do that. We have Urgent Cares all over the place, so I've always gone there rather than bug a pharmacist. Hmmm. I hope you're feeling better soon!

Date: 2025-05-07 07:27 am (UTC)The one you work with sounds like the Bad Cat Cafe, though, I've only been there once. Unlike the others they only have cats that are up for adoption, so you never know how many will be in there. I still can't believe that so many are within easy travelling distance for me, even with Mog gone I could go to four others, plus the dog cafe.
The Pharmacy scheme is relatively new, I think, something they're trying to take pressure from the GPs, and they can only prescribe for a very limited amount of conditions. But it worked out nicely for me, only having to wait about half an hour between stepping through the door and getting the meds as opposed to hours if I'd gone to the walk in medical centres.

Date: 2025-05-07 02:27 pm (UTC)There are cat cafes with resident, non-adoptable cats? That's interesting. Our affiliated cafe sometimes has a temporarily not-adoptable-yet cat. Like Poppy. Poppy's first owners allowed her to get up to 25 pounds, and were going to have her euthanized. We took her and they put her at the cafe. They did a special diet and weekly weigh-ins for her. Everyone loved her, so she got her own FB page, and someone made up shirts to support her (and the cafe). She was eventually adopted when she got down to a reasonable weight. And her new owner still gives updates. Poppy is doing great! I think she's down to at least 15 pounds or less and is a healthy cat again!

Date: 2025-05-07 11:26 am (UTC)I'm still jealous that there are no cat cafes around here. (It's nice that you can get in free as a carer, too.)
I'm sorry you weren't feeling well, but I'm glad you got the antibiotics. Sinus infections are nothing to sneeze at (no pun intended).
Uh oh, you just jinxed yourself when you said you had no plans for the next three days, lol!

I was so pleased I could get the antibiotics, as of course things got worse on a long weekend. But, I'm on the mend now.

I have to admit, I did message to double-check Bodhi had gone to nursery this morning!

Date: 2025-05-09 04:23 pm (UTC)That's so cool you could get help for your bad cold at a pharmacy! I wonder if that will ever become a thing here. Most pharmacists would probably be more than qualified to diagnose small illnesses. I see from your comments that you're starting to feel better again so it looks like this pharmacist was completely correct in what they prescribed. I hope you will soon feel completely well! *sends lots of healthy vibes*

It's such a good scheme, and you're right, most pharmacists really are qualified to diagnose the more minor illnesses, and therefore, take some pressure from GPs.
I feel fully well now, thank you!
