Kayleigh and Lucy are having a short break in Kraków, atm -- Bodhi is staying with Lucy's mam and sister. They left Saturday evening and will fly home tomorrow morning, so it really is a short visit. This means I've been on/am on cat and tortoise duty at their house.
Though, the cat looking after isn't as involved as previously
Kayleigh had to have Aeriel, her cat pts on Friday. She knew it was coming, Aeriel had thyroid issues and had been in heart failure controlled by meds for a really long time. She was also 21 years old, and looked it. But she was also amazingly strong, going on for much longer than anyone expected. Her breathing suddenly got much worse on Thursday night, and it was pretty obvious it was her time. Though, of course, knowing that never makes it any easier.
I'm just glad the sudden decline happened when it did, and not once Kayleigh had flown on Saturday. Aeriel knew me, and I would have taken her to the vets myself if needed. But I wasn't her person, Kayleigh was, and she would have wanted her person at the end.
So ♥ to Aeriel, a beautiful senior kitty who I miss seeing when I pop up to see to the others.
Before they went away Kayleigh asked if I wanted a hoover they were going to throw away as they'd bought a new one. I figured it would be perfect to keep in James' craft room, as that's always full of saw dust. I tried it for the first time today and the thing is a beast! It's a Shark brand, and there's not a thing wrong with it, so much so I'm seriously considering keeping it for my main hoover and giving James our usual one. I can't believe they were just going to throw it away.
I usually watch Eurovision, but tapped out halfway through on Saturday night. I just wasn't feeling it, and was tired as we'd taken the bus to Durham for a walk before coming home to take Kayleigh and Lucy to the airport. I did enjoy Doctor Who beforehand though and liked how it tied into Eurovision day.
It was class earlier, and I enjoyed it. Though, had a laugh with my friend as we walked home as Rosie split us up for the circuits, making us feel like we were back at school and had been split up for talking too much. That's not why she did it though, at least, I don't think so. Just, there were new people, and she wanted them to be partnered with old timers. I ended up with a lady coming to her first class, and it was also the first time she'd been out in public for a long time, so I'm glad I could be a friendly face in what had to be a difficult situation.

Date: 2025-05-19 05:44 pm (UTC)great acquisition on the hoover! I've seen ads for that Shark brand, but never seen/used one in person. I'd put your old one in James' room, and use the Shark for your own cleaning of the house
I'd forgotten it was Eurovision, and haven't seen any entrants. any good ones I should look for, or is it worth tracking them down at all?

Date: 2025-05-19 07:27 pm (UTC)I have two Sharks! Both are rehabs that I bought on Amazon for a discount (basically, returned by someone else for some reason, cleaned up, reboxed, and sold at a large discount). Both work great. The big difference is that the newer one said hair won't get stuck in the brush (between me and the cats... LOTS of hair, and it's always wound around the brush). Wrong! However, I can at least open the bottom easily and cut the hair free. The older one, the base is bolted on and I've never been able to remove it to fully clean the hair off the brush. I cut what I can, but can't reach it all. It works, but the brush can't be cleaned very well. But yeah, both are great. And if I do move to Oregon, I will likely have a two-story house, so one per floor!
I'm glad you're a friendly face to newbies in your class!
