Sep. 15th, 2025 03:22 pmRosie is getting married tomorrow, so today was the last class for a fortnight. She was going on annual leave after our class finished, and was such a happy mood. So, while she was still evil!Rosie, she was being so while full of joy which was lovely to see. The class got her a signed card, which she seemed touched about, then she was off, checking out of work to do some last minute wedding prep.
I was also at the doctors this morning
All my blood tests came back perfect, except for my thyroid, which was a bit high in terms of an underactive thyroid. Those results came back as abnormal, and looking back at other results, have done for years. But not bad enough that medication would be given, as I asked about that. It does surprise me as while the results were in the 6s, which is classed as pre underactive thyroid, you'd think with my lifelong battle to get weight off, anything that would maybe help would be considered, but nope.
The doctor was willing to give medication for the hand tremors, though, and I now have a diagnosis of physiological fine tremors, which tbh sounds a bit like a catch-all term, but I'm just relieved it's nothing horrible. He's prescribed a beta blocker, which I thought was just for blood pressure, but again, nope, apparently it's used for tremors, too. But as it does lower blood pressure, I need to take it at night at first.
He's actually really pleased with where I am health wise, now I just need to hopefully get rid of these stupid tremors. And if these pills don't work, it'll mean a referral to a specialist.
James also went to the appointment -- though thankfully, it was no way as frustrating as the last one as he needed to sort out return to work stuff as he's so much better now. But the doctor wants him on a long phased return, which will probably start next Tuesday.
We did a craft fair on Saturday gone. Sadly, it wasn't the best attended, and we only made a profit of £35 after paying for the table. But, that was £35 more pounds than we'd had that morning, and stock was sold, which was great. Even better, the organiser offered us a regular spot at the makers market in our town. Funnily enough, that happens in the same hall we use for weight management class, on the third Saturday of each month. So, that's this Saturday coming, where hopefully, more people turn up and more stock will be sold. And if it's quiet, I've told James I'll sneak away and leave him to it and have an hour in the gym *g*
We also went to see the new Downton Abby film on Friday. The clientele amused me as the screen was full of ladies carrying in their glasses of wine, but they were all so excited, it made for a lovely atmosphere, especially as nearly every seat was full.
I enjoyed the film a lot. Yes, some of the plot was a bit convenient and a bit rushed, but really it was a goodbye to the characters the viewers had came to love. Of course, I was most interested in what happened to Barrow, and I loved that he ended up happy, as during the actual series that seemed so unlikely to happen. When Mary told Guy to invite Thomas upstairs, because after all he wasn't a servant any more, and more importantly, was Guy's friend, my heart. Also, you can't tell me that Thomas, Guy and Noel Coward didn't have a threesome.
I also loved Edith, what a kickass woman she became, stepping out of Mary's shadow and becoming a force on her own. And much love for Daisy coming into her own, too. Hell, much love to them all, even Bates.

Date: 2025-09-15 08:06 pm (UTC)I'm glad your doctor visit was at least mostly good news. I hope the new meds do their stuff for you.
I'm sorry there wasn't better attendance, but at least you had a profit rather than a loss.

Date: 2025-09-16 12:32 pm (UTC)I'm glad you've got meds for the tremors, but it seems odd that they'd give you BP meds. I hope it doesn't lower your BP too much.
Good luck to James on his return to work.
Bummer about the craft fair; I hope the next one is much better!
I'm glad you enjoyed the movie!

Date: 2025-09-16 07:32 pm (UTC)Awh, congratulations Rosie, how lovely.
That is a bit odd about your thyroid numbers, and the lack of reaction from the doctor. Beta blockers do seem to be the go to for a lot of different things, not just blood pressure - I hope you get a good result from them
Fingers crossed for the next fair!

Date: 2025-09-17 08:11 am (UTC)I've never seen Rosie so happy, I mean, she's usually a cheerful person, but it was at another level on Monday.
I had a feeling the doctor wouldn't treat the thyroid thing as on the app the result was labelled abnormal, but also, satisfactory which seems to be a bit contradictory.
Well, so far the tremors haven't gone, but I do think they're not as apparent, which I'm taking as a good sign. Especially as I'm only taking one tablet atm and can take up to two a day.
I was pleased to get a spot at the local fair. Especially as the location is literally a few minutes drive
away. Now, lets just hope the buyers turn up.

Date: 2025-09-17 08:17 am (UTC)The way the doctor explained it is my body is producing too much adrenalin, so the meds he's prescribed dampen down that reaction, slowing everything down, which I guess is why it helps with blood pressure, too. So far so good in terms of taking them, and the tremors do seem to be less apparent, which is great.
The last craft fair we did was in a lovely hall, but one really out of the way. One of those places where you have to be going there especially and not just call in when you're in the area. So, not surprising really in terms of the lack of people. This one on Sat is much more established, so hopefully, more customers!
Such a good movie, I was looking forward to it and wasn't disappointed.

Date: 2025-09-17 08:19 am (UTC)Yeah, I was pleased at the doctor visit, lots of excellent results along with the dodgy ones.
Yep, I'm hanging onto the profit thought. It could have easily been a loss.

Date: 2025-09-17 08:10 pm (UTC)Your potentially underactive thyroid sounds a little bit worrying but if the doctors don't think so it's hopefully nothing to worry about. It's good to hear you've been prescribed meds that will hopefully help with those tremors *keeps fingers crossed*
That's sad about the fair result but I'm sure it was just a once-off. Those regular fairs sounds cool and you will hopefully sell lots of stuff every time!

Date: 2025-09-17 09:09 pm (UTC)Here's hoping the pills help - it does seem off that your doctor isn't interested in the thyroid stuff, but I feel like many GPs are just not interested in anything that's not the specific problem at the top of the list in front of them, unfortunately.

I honestly don't get the lack of interest. Yeah, the numbers weren't horrendous, but they still said themselves they're classed as abnormal, and have been a long time.

Date: 2025-10-07 03:23 pm (UTC)Oh man, me too! Bodies are so weird.
Thankfully, the pills do work, though I'm considering changing from taking at night to the mornings so I get more benefit.

The underactive thyroid would explain a lot, but apparently it's just not underactive enough to treat. At least the meds are helping the tremors.
Next fair is a week on Saturday. I really hope this one goes better.
