Jan. 21st, 2026 03:35 pmI really didn't want to go to class on Monday. It was cold, it was wet, my friend/usual partner had messaged saying she couldn't come that day, and everything was just, meh. But I gave my head a shake and made myself go, and was glad I did. It was another big class with only five of us oldies there, I got partnered with someone new who was very nice, and we had a laugh. I'm especially glad I went as class was cancelled for today, so it would have been another week without having a supervised session.
We went to see 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple, and man, the violence was so much worse, and graphic, than the last one. It was well acted, how some fabulous visuals and acting, especially by Ralph Fiennes and Jack O'Connell, but I really wouldn't recommend it due to the excessive amount of gore.
Yesterday was my six monthly lymphedema appointment
It went very well, no in depth measurements were taken to measure fluid loss this time, but the measurement that was taken around my calves showed they'd dropped by a cm, which is good. You may remember last time the nurse suggested I get compression leggings. Well, it was a different specialist nurse this time, and she didn't seem as keen. She would have prescribed them, but was a bit worried that the level of compression I need would impede my movements especially at the gym, plus, I have a lot of loose skin and squishy belly fat that could be uncomfortable, which I do know from wearing spanx like compression for special occasions. Something I don't do often as good luck if you're desperate for the toilet while wearing those things.
Plus, she said my routine I have now with the below leg compressions and thigh highs for non-active days was obviously working, and fair enough. Like I said, she would have prescribed the leggings, but I do understand her reservations. So, I think I'll just buy some nonmedical grade compression legging, which won't be as tight, and keep on with what I'm doing now.
I did get to order two new below knees, and I went all colours this time with a mango yellow and a magenta pair, which I think will look great with dresses when it finally warms up again.
So yeah, a good appointment overall.
TV wise, I watched the first ep of Starfleet Academy and really enjoyed it. As I'm also watching Strange New Worlds still, I'm just rolling in Trek stuff atm, which is a lovely place to be.

Date: 2026-01-21 04:41 pm (UTC)I really enjoyed ep one of Starfleet Academy. Especially The Doctor as a main character, like, how much must he have seen and experienced in the centuries since Voyager. It blows my mind.

Date: 2026-01-21 07:19 pm (UTC)Bummer about the leggings, despite her good points. Had you already tried them and found them comfortable?
I have Starfleet Academy DL'd, but haven't watched it yet. I'm happy to know you enjoyed the first ep. (And I ~still haven't finished the last season of SNW. o_O)

Date: 2026-01-21 10:49 pm (UTC)Glad your appointment went well, always good to hear.
I liked both Starfleet Academy and Strange New Worlds, but I must put them on too late in the day as I keep falling asleep/nodding off. Sometimes, I wake up and rewind the bits I've missed; sometimes, I nod off again. LOL. Some day, I'll get some watching done. Glad you're enjoying both shows!

Date: 2026-01-22 09:36 am (UTC)Yeah, it was a good appointment. It's nice when you go for medical stuff and no major issues are raised.
Both shows are great and I'm enjoying being back in the Trek universe again. Maybe you need to try and watch earlier in the day *g*

Date: 2026-01-22 09:48 am (UTC)Exactly! Especially so when it's cold and wet. It's not even that long of a walk to the gym, probably ten minutes at most, but when it's raining and the temp has dropped, just going out of the front door seems harder.
No, I've never tried the leggings, medically compression grade anyway. I wear normal leggings as part of my day-to-day outfits, but nothing really tight. They would have been made to measure, including my squishy belly, but it would have sucked if I'd got them and wasn't comfortable. But she did say we can reassess at my next appointment. Though, did say as things were going so well she was considering going to yearly appointments, which I wasn't a fan of as things can change lots in a year. Thankfully, she changed her mind on that.
I tell you, too many tv shows, too little time atm! *g*

Date: 2026-01-22 09:53 am (UTC)What amused me was they had a scene where he explained why a hologram had aged, no doubt to preempt comments about that. Which would have happened, we all know how fans are *g*

Date: 2026-01-22 01:03 pm (UTC)But yeah, I usually turn the news on in the morning, and I watch TV as I'm eating... so I could watch something other than the news... or an NCIS or Criminal Minds episode.
After surgery, I imagine I may have a lot of TV time coming. The surgeon has said that I NEED to move, but won't feel like doing much. Not sure how nice the weather will be. But I may just want to bundle up on the sofa and watch TV.

Date: 2026-01-22 10:52 pm (UTC)Hurray also for your current protocol continuing to work for you!
(I keep seeing stuff about Starfleet Academy and I'm intrigued, but it's not on any of the services we have, so who knows when it will eventually cross my path!)

Date: 2026-01-24 06:53 pm (UTC)Good to hear your measurements are improving! Yeah, being too constricted when evil!Rosie makes you excersise sounds no fun. So hopefully your current routine will continue to serve you well. The new below-knees sounds awesome!
