May. 11th, 2026 08:18 amWe went to see The Sheep Detectives on Saturday, and man, it hit me right in the feels
I suspected it would deal with loss due to the whole investigating a murder thing, but I didn't expect it to be so emotional, you know, considering it's based on talking sheep being detectives. But the winter lamb being left out, sheep dying and thinking they would become clouds, the hooks in the slaughter house. The dog fight and death. My heart! So many kids were watching too. I suspect a lot of details were going over their heads, while I was sitting fighting back tears. But, I did like it a lot, and what a feel good ending
Sadly, what doesn't have a feel good ending is the results of the local elections where Reform has done really well, including taking all posts available in my local area. I knew it would happen, and it really was a case of voting for the best of a bad lot. But Reform, and seeing that slime ball Farage gloating about taking Sunderland made me sick.
People on the local FB groups have been constantly complaining about how bad a job Labour has been doing, now lets see Reform do better. Somehow, I suspect they won't.
My nurse appointment went well last week,
I've been seeing the nurse I saw for years. In fact, she was the one who first got me on the books of the lymphoedema service over 20 years ago when she was treating the nasty leg ulcer I had back then. She was also the one who encouraged me to refer myself to the weight management programme when I saw her for a check up two years ago, where she gently made me face up to the fact that I'd put a lot of weight back on.
She's also the same age as me, so we've always got on nicely, and this time our talk was about having a lot of medical routine tests coming our way now we'd hit our 50s. She was saying how she's got appointments for a routine bowel screening, smear test and mammogram all in one week. At least in my case I had my first mammogram last year, and the bowel screening home test a month or so ago, and my smear this last week, so my appointments were more spread out at least.
All had fine results btw, so that's good. Now, if only my joints would stop aching.
Class went well on Wednesday, we were talking about the benefits of sleep, another topic I've gone through about three times now. Why it sticks in my mind though is we were talking about using devices like Fitbits to track sleep and everyone who had one checked their app to see their sleep hours the night before. Mine was 9 1/2 hours, and yeah, sleeping is one thing I'm usually okayat. But, even that was long for me.
