I'm pissed off just now, and it's not even about the JC/Justin thing. (All I'm saying about that is I'm disappointed for JC but I still like Justin and the though anyone would blame him for what happens just makes me laugh) No I'm pissed at something happening in TS.

I posted about a plagiarist last week, I had a suspicion who it was and have just been proven right. How anything thinks they have the right to copy someone's work and pass it as their own makes me furious. How the hell did she think she was going to get away with it? And copying from a known writer, man, how stupid can you get? This person was on all my TS lists with me and her work was pretty poor at first, I remember posting on here ages ago how she was spamming lists with her stuff, and no wonder if all she was doing was taking other stories and converting to slash. That's so wrong.

I'm not the best writer out there, but I work hard to improve, all writers work hard and the fact that someone thinks she can get respect as a writer by ripping off other writers is beyond belief. What kind of fucked up, dishonest person does that? Not someone I want in my fandom for sure.

Also, still getting no comments on some posts, so if I've ignored a comment, sorry.

Fanfic plagiarists? *laughs in disbelief* I really thought they had become extinct. ;-)

I wish they had become extinct, but as long as there's writers that don't give a damn they'll be plagiarists.

Damn, did I miss one of *those* discussions, again?

I'm on Digest at Senad, but the mail is usually pretty messy and crappy so I don't really read it anymore... so, you were right? It was the writer you mentioned in your mail? How did you know, did they discuss her at the ML??

I was right, but it didn't come up on Senad.

I saw it in two places, here (http://www.mizjain.org/deniedboard/viewforum.php?f=4) and on Zinelist. Can't say I'm that surprised, just annoyed really that she'd do something like that.

So nope, none of *those* discussions, thought there's an interesting one going on at Zinelist. Mainly should you name and shame people that do this.

Thanks for the link. So she was officially outed, then? Well, people should think of the consequences of their action before doing something stupid. And yeah, she couldn't choose *another* writer, could she? She had to pick *that* one? Wow, I'm so impressed *shakes head*

It's rather surprising though, when you think of it. The girl was able to post fics for quite some time before anyone noticed, didn't she? I mean, I remember seeing 'her' stories for several months... and yeah, quite frequently too, which isn't so surprising now that we know more...

Did anyone hear from her btw? Or did she disappear from all our MLs?

She's been outed in Zinelist and obviously on that site. Walter is pulling her stuff from the Squidge servers so it should be obvious then.

I couldn't believe who she chose to copy either, there's nothing like picking a well know writer.

I don't know how she was caught, the first I knew about it was on Senad but it didn't take me long to suspect who it was, so I assume others would be the same. She did post a lot of stories and it makes me wonder how many were her own. I know she was getting some done on Sen_Betas then disappeared from there.

I haven't heard from her in a while, but her site's still up, so no doubt she'll be back.

I swear someone needs to create a fanfic copyright site. A nice place where a person can archive a text copy of their story that is dated. Then if anyone else tries to claim it, the author can just point to their Copyright Site date.

Meh. That just irks me to no end.

That's a good idea.

It amazes me that people think they can get away with things like copying stories. They have no shame.

My favorite plagiarists are the ones who copy the story *word* for *word*, and who aren't even smart enough to take care of details such as hair color or details in the story telling.

I mean, if you cheat, can't you do it properly at least? Or is it asking too much? I'm not encouraging that kind of thing, don't get me wrong, but I'm always amazed by people's stupidity.

Some people are insane.

You're right though, you'd think if they knew how to copy a story they'd know how to do a search and replace on details.

I'm completely boggled by this girl's stupidity and arrogance. How did she think she was going to get away with it? I've seen her name before, posting fic to SFX -- I checked out one of her stories way back in the beginning, but, like you said, she wasn't very good, and I started deleting her stories whenever they'd show up on SFX. So I didn't even notice that she was "improving."

What a stupid, stupid girl.

By the way, I've been meaning to tell you that I haven't been getting email notifications for comments, either. It's been going on for over a month now. I was getting them sporadically for a while, and now I'm not getting any. I just try to keep track of who I comment to now, and go check periodically to see if they replied. It's really annoying though, not just for the inconvenience, but because I want to save some of those comments, especially feedback comments for when I post fic.

I deleted all her stuff too, but it did get better. At least it did if you liked the kind of stories she wrote, I didn't.

However, saying that, we don't know what she did write. When I see something of hers I'll always think, did she copy that?

It's arrogance and stupidity to the highest level I agree.

The comment thing is driving me insane. Some posts I get none sent, others just a few. The posts aren't that bad but I can never remember where I commented.

Since no one's brought this up on SenseXangst, has she posted plagiarized stuff there? If she has, I can 1)take it up with Kira and/or 2) remove her from the list myself. ::whispers:: I must admit, I barely read a word of what comes across that list anymore...

I don't know about SenseXangst, I left the group a while ago as I just couldn't keep up with the dues, plus my interests are usually elsewhere now.

But it was one of Patt Rose's stories she copied so I wouldn't put it past her to post plagiarized stuff. So far she's been caught copying TS, Real Ghostbusters and maybe Highlander stories.

Ami's a bloody idiot.

OMG! BWAH! She plagiarized Patt?!?!?! That has to be the funniest, saddest thing I've ever heard! Isn't the point of plagiarism to copy work that's good?!?!

Does it tell you something that I didn't even notice you left SXA?

Yeah she did *g* Posted an almost identical story, just with Jim and Blair with swapped roles. I have to admit my reaction was the same as yours when I read that, and I had to go see the evidence myself to believe it. But yeah, Patt. Ami is not just a plagiarist but one with bad taste!

She copied YM McCool too which makes a lot more sense.

Funnily enough I left SXA when Ami joined, she was on all my other TS lists at the time and she rubbed me up the wrong way, with her 'Blair's a virgin' posts. Yeah, right.

Not that it was a hard decision to leave. I'm not a good TS fan anymore ;)
I left all my lists and just write what I want on the fringes of the fandom. When I checked out Patt and Ami's stories it was the first time I'd been to 852 in months.
