Feb. 9th, 2004 07:54 pmHad a productive afternoon in a strange way.
Read Joey story, read mails from people helping with story, read story again. Realised the beginning just didn't work and would need deleting. Didn't like that idea so read flist while hoping story wouldn't suck so much when I read it again. Posted on LJ. Read story again, still sucked, deleted 3 pages and mourned for about a minute then sucked it up and got on with it.
But first had to download and lust after about 708468736 JC pics. Such a pretty boy.
Got an idea how to do the beginning and was excited, started writing and realised I needed to know exactly how the flip is done in IWYB so went to my nsync footage folder to look for the vid.
Looked for vid, cursed my lack of organisation skills yet again. Saw 'Gone' remembered how good Chris looks in black and white. Watched Gone. Looked again, saw TUMH, remembered the gay porn scene of Justin on the bed and Chris in his scary clothes, had to watch. Looked again, found IWYB euro version, had to watch to see scary cyber woman, tight porn t-shirts and hot Chris. Looked again and somehow the unedited xmas message came up, had to see that. Finally found the first live showing of IWYB at MTV I wanted and watched the flips ten a few times.
Went back to writing.
Needed to research braces and how much they hurt after. Googled "Braces after care"
Realised I was writing the story that I've always wanted in a lesser form, worried about that, thought so what, it fits the story.
Researched all about braces and looked at loads of pics. Wondered if Chris still has to wear a retainer as adult teeth tend to slide back into their former position. Find the thought of a retainer hot. Call myself a freak. Call myself a freak even more when I find pictures of pretty men wearing braces hot.Wonder if I should forget the braces because people will know I'm a freak. Realise that with my default people will probably know anyway, plus the make out scene at the end of the story where Joey licks the braces is probably a clue. Keep the braces bit.
Write some more, no music on in the house so I can concentrate, but MTV is on mute. See baby BSB out of the corner of my eye. Squee and put sound back on, sing along. Next vid is baby Boyzone so sing along again, the next is Westlife, nearly fall of my chair as I try to mute the sound.
Write more. Curse Joey for being an ass. Realise I need the name of some German cakes. Google for German food. Give up after looking at the 70978762 pages of gobbledegoop and skirt the issue.
Corey comes home. Then friend one comes, then friend two. Try to write sex scene with Chris and his boyfriend, give up when friends keep coming to look at the fish next to my desk so I shrink the page, don't need them telling everyone Corey's mam's a pervert.
Open it again as I remember I need to modify the Lance scene, make him sound less of a robot. Try to remember what I was like when I was 17. Give up in disgust. Try to remember what Kayleigh was like last year. Decide Lance probably didn't sound like a Geordie girl with a crush on Pink, then again maybe he did. Decide to wing it anyway.
Made tea.
Friends have gone and Corey is playing on his playstation so I write sex scene. Read what I have so far and am happy. It's so much better than what I deleted.
And now I put Corey in the bath so I can try and get this done tonight, then all my wonderful helpers can see.
Life's good just now :)

Date: 2004-02-09 12:50 pm (UTC)And the thing I remember most about braces is pain. Pain for days after going in to have them tightened, which was every other week. And I had this "headgear" that I was supposed to wear three hours a day, only I managed to skip it most of the time. It was a wire thing that hooked into little loops on the bands around my lower teets, and it stuck our about three inches in front and wrapped aoruns band to my ears where it changed to an elastic strap. That thing was an instrument of torture. Not just what it looked like, but it cut into my lips painfully, and made me whole jaw sore.
The other fun thing is food. Like, you can't eat anything you have to bite off with your front teeth: sandwiches, apples, everyhting is painful. You get used to cutting up everything into bite-sized pieces. And then food gets stuck under the wires. I gave up eating nuts completely, it was too hard to get them out. I still hate eating anything like that that feels like it's sticking between my teeth.
At that age (14-17) I was not sexually active (though reading lots of porn, of course) so I don't know about kissing or anything. But man, going down on a guy could be bad. I had to put these little lumps of wax on the places where the wires tied off because they were sharp enough to draw blood on the inside of my mouth. French kissing could be dangerous.

Date: 2004-02-09 01:08 pm (UTC)As for the French kissing, can I say ouch! Joey's going to have to be careful there, never mind if Chris goes down on him. Man, I'm shuddering just thinking about it. I might have to redo a small part of the story.
The thing that you had to wear sounds horrific :( I hope you have beautiful teeth now to make up for it.
The story's coming together good now, helped by the people who aren't afraid to tell me when my ideas just don't work or need adding to. I should be mailing tonight with what I've got if that's okay.

Date: 2004-02-09 01:39 pm (UTC)Thanks for letting me know, now I can leave things how they were.
Oh, and letting me know all those things you can still do with braces in? Not helping with my freakish obsession ;)

Date: 2004-02-09 01:49 pm (UTC)Which isn't to say that accidents don't occasionally happen, but not freakish bloody accidents. Just occasional bumps and scratches. And the first day or two after an adjustment, I wouldn't even kiss much. But I doubt that's gonna come up so much in the story.
Any questions you have, I'm happy to put my two cents worth in. I was college age and quite sexually active when I had them (about 8 years ago), so can probably answer some of the, uh, "important" questions. Heh. :)
Re:
Date: 2004-02-09 01:24 pm (UTC)Eh, the inside of your teehs is relaively smooth. Only on the molars in back are there bands that go all the way around, in front they glue little tings to each tooth, so Joey should be able to get his tongue int here without too much danger. But no licking Chris's teeth.
And blowjobs, now that I've thought about it, it's just a worse than usual problem with teeth. Though I was usually sore enough that any pressure on the teeth was uncomfortable, so giving would be unpleasant for that reason.
And heh, my orthodontist sort of retired, and I barely managed to get the damn things taken off, and then we had no money to get new ones. So I never had a retainer either. My teeth are 1000 times better than before, but not perfect. They were unbelievably bad to start with, so maybe I had more pain than average, I don't know. I had to have six teeth removed to make room so they could all be rearranged; one of my upper canine teeth had grown in sticking straight out towards the front, instead of down. I got lucky, my dad's family has small jaws and teeth, mom's has large jaws and teeth. I for big teeth and a tiny jaw.
I'd love to look at it again, when it's ready.

Date: 2004-02-09 01:30 pm (UTC)Also, there is one mention in some article once (I couldn't begin to remember where) of Chris having had a retainer for a while after he had the braces removed, but I would be very, very surprised if he still had it. I only had mine for maybe a year after.

Date: 2004-02-09 06:56 pm (UTC)Yaaaaay, Terri's-productive-day!
Hope tonight/tomorrow goes as well for me; my current story is SO lagging behind, but at least what I have has gone well...
And Terri, Luv, let me just say how much I =LOVE= this entry. Totally and completely amusing, had me lol irl SEVERAL times over, and I just love your use of stream-of-consciousness. It's perfect. Mine never works; my brain thinks too much...
Re:
Date: 2004-02-12 10:02 am (UTC)You know I really need to hit you up for a chat soon.
Hee, glad you liked the post. That was a strange if productive day.
Mine never works; my brain thinks too much...
Is that a back handed insult? ;)
Re:
Date: 2004-02-12 02:32 pm (UTC)That's NOT what I meant!!
My brain just never shuts off; I'm a crappy sleeper, and when I'm tired I can't focus on anything 'cuz my brain just keeps spiraling off on a gajillion different tangents... ..note the evil cyclical pattern there...
And I'm working on your b-day fic, think it'll be done in time just fine. And I'd love to chat sometime, late night/early morning (for you) Sat/Sun might work, or whenever Sunday; I'm off work and will be writing... *grin*

Date: 2004-02-10 03:42 am (UTC)My braces only ever *hurt* the forst couple of days after each time they were tightened, but the constant dull pressure thing ... you just get used to I guess. [press really hard on your front teeth for a minute and then let go - see?] The worst for me was having the night time head-wire contraption that a] hurt and b] meant I couldn't sleep on my front or side, and I kept waking myself up with snoring / not quite being able to breath. Or knocking it. Because aplying lever forces to things welded around your teeth ... that's not fun.
[Then again, I called a hlat to the whole thing when they wanted to remove teeth to make the re-allignment more perminant by removing the pressure pushing from the back. Oral surgery. *shivers*. ]
[I'm having very very teeny thoughts about Chris changing out the coloured bands for different events / holidays. I should shut up now. Although orthodontist bands are really usefull for tiny braids.]
Re:
Date: 2004-02-10 05:03 am (UTC)I've just been sitting pressing my front teeth and yeah the pressure's not nice.
I keep feeling guilty now with all these stories about how uncomfortable braces can be, but I can't help thinking how hot people look when they're wearing them. It's a good job I've made peace with myself for being a freak *g*
I have to say this kink isn't being helped with CJ talking about what you can do with braces in and now you with Chris and the coloured bands, because I can so see that.
Lol, we can be teenies together!
