I swear I'm HTML challenged. I've mentioned that I want to move the Mutant X archive from Geocities, and decided to go to Populli. I e-mailed Alice to ask some questions, basically saying that though I can code stories, I hadn't worked up to front pages etc. Anyway, she mailed back saying that the site should be ready to be uploaded before I ask for a space, but she's kept my mail and there's a space when I need it. And that's wonderful, but it means I have to learn about more tags. I used the links at Populli last night. Found a wonderful site and just experimented with html.

Whatever I did I couldn't get any images to show, just kept getting those red crosses. I swore, I shouted, I kicked James screamed. I knew the tag was correct, then suddenly a lightbulb lit up in my head. Maybe they weren't showing because I needed to upload the image to a host. Okay I got round that by using the Geocities account, doing the code directly into the html box then displaying the page. You know what? it worked, but only with gifs and I'm sure that jpeg's are supposed to work too.

You have to remember it took me hours to work this out. So next I checked out html editors and FTP things, and now my head hurts, I'm looking at them and haven't got a bloody clue. I'll work it out eventually...I just hope it's worth it.

I'm going to go read something now, something that suits my intellect. Wonder if Janet and John books are online?
