Jan. 22nd, 2006 10:41 amI should catch up with the last few days. But really it comes down to, James still being off work and will be for the next week or so. Both his side and my side of the family were causing problems. I was sick, and man, you know you're in trouble when even your bones hurt, Corey fell flat on his face when he was running and loosened some of his teeth. Many early mornings and late nights, Even the dog was at the vets where he was diagnosed with arthritis and is now on tablets each day. You have to laugh really.
What kept me occupied when I was bundled on the couch was finishing the books Josh sent for Christmas. They're the Anita Blake series and they rock. I was so caught up in that world of vampires and monsters. Though reading about zombies and body parts that crawl across the floor late at night maybe wasn't the best idea. We're heading out for dinner soon and I'm going to go buy book 3, and maybe give out the hints about what I want for my birthday while I'm there.
Before I go, Starwatcher said she'd be interested in how I'd answer this, so I tried but I really don't think I have a style so the answers are kind of lame.
How you know you're reading a story by Terri.
(1) It'll be between 6000 and 10000 words as that seems to be my magic number in terms of a story.
(2) It'll be written in present tense. I try to write in past tense on occasions but always slip back into present tense as I write. So now I tend to just go with that. Of course I now fear I've mixed up the tenses. Drop me a comment if I have and I'll grin sheepishly while editing to hide my d'oh side. It's early(ish), I'm having a brain blip, I'm distracted by Francis on the tv, what can I say?
(3) There's a good chance it's an AU. I like writing AUs and think world building is cool.
(4) People smile or laugh a lot. Sadly at times my stories seem to be a bunch of characters on the happy pills, especially pre beta. Someone grinning like a loon and laughing randomly? That's written by me.
(5) Any sex scenes tend to fade to black, because as much as l love reading the down and dirty stuff, writing it gives me much grief.
(6) Despite the pairing all characters will feature somehow, even if it's only through a phone call.
(7) If it's Euro!Sync there'll be at least one description of Chris that included his hair and braces. It's my story, if I find them hot so do the people I write about. We're just a happy, laughing, hair touching, braces licking, bunch around here.
(8) There'll be a good amount of description. I like trying to make the world I write about as vivid as I can. Of course whether that works or not is debateable.
(9) Man, this is hard. Okay, if you trip over a Briticism that may be my story. I do get the stories I write Brit picked but something always slips through. If you ever find one just let me know. I'll appreciate it, promise.
(10) Why did I start this? But I can make ten, I can. Right. There's a very good chance that any story of mine will feature Chris in a big way. Don't think you're safe reading in other fandoms either. I've sparkly crossed TS and Mutant X already and every fandom is fair game. Sam and Dean meeting Chris at a show, Voyager going back to the past again and beaming up the tour bus. Be still my heart at the thought of Nsync on the bridge of Voyager. So if you see an insane cross over. It could be me.
Last thing.
spasticat Your postcard came, thank you! The skinny guy in his baby decorated leggings is pinned on the board as I speak :)
