Happy Pancake Day
Feb. 9th, 2016 06:01 pmI've just had pancakes for tea, and am now very full.
Especially so as we were at the Thai restaurant earlier. Dad and Pauline always used to take nanna out to eat for her birthday, and as my cousin is getting married on my actual birthday -- a wedding both nanna and Pauline are going to -- she invited me for an early birthday meal out, too. It was a good time, very nice food followed by a drive to the coast where nanna had a 99 ice cream and Pauline and James hot chocolate topped with mounds of cream.
There was lots of talk about dad, and he was still very much part of us all still. But while eating dinner Pauline was talking about something dad had said when he'd found out Corey had been born and he realised he was now a granddad, and it just about broke my heart with missing him. Then when we went home we went to drop Pauline off first and she asked if we wanted to come in for coffee. Nanna said no because she can't help thinking about dad when going into the house and it upsets her and last time we did take her there she did end up crying so I get it. I really do, but Pauline has to go into the house alone daily, and even though nanna said she'd stay in the car if we wanted to go and have coffee, it's not like I could actually do that. It's only been a few months since he was gone and it's still so hard sometimes and I had no idea what to do for the best.
But, apart from that it was a really nice day and tomorrow we're taking Kayleigh and mam to Newcastle to get Corey and we're going out to eat and celebrate his birthday a day early. James has arranged a really nice gift for him. Corey's been reading the Judge Dredd books, and by coincidence, a few months ago James found out that his new helper at Scouts dad is one of the illustrators for the series. So James asked if he could arrange a sketch or something and he sent down a signed A3 illustration that looks very cool.
For my birthday I've decided to go to Mog on the Tyne, the Newcastle cat cafe. So hopefully that will happen next week.
Other things.
I finished Captive Prince book three and loved it so so much.
I also see Frank caused a bit of a mini stir with his comment on instragram about wishing only the people you follow could comment on your posts. I can't say I blame him for that at all, just from glancing at his comments for every rational supportive comment he has to put up with many more mentioning MCR, Gerard or the extra eye roll worthy, simply, dad. No wonder he gets frustrated.
