The June Something.
Is there any fandom that you regret getting into?
Not really. I'd say 99% of my fannish experience has been positive. I'm incredibly lucky to have been surrounded by fantastic people some of whom have been online friends for over 20 years now.
If pushed for an answer I could say Mutant X, but only for very specific reasons as mostly my time in that fandom was excellent. However, a few things were negative, but I'm only going to talk about the negative in terms of me. I was still a relatively new writer at the time, and I had this amazing cheerleader who would urge me on to write, including wanting me to write for a zine. The problem was, I was an enthusiastic newbie writer that really needed a good beta and someone to help me tone down the melodrama. Most of you will know my fic loves and while I can self edit now, back then I'd just go for it and wrote cliched DRAMA! and ANGST! and really needed someone to reign me in. Thankfully I did find such people in later fandoms and I'm a much better writer now, but I still cringe when I think of that zine and if I ever find my copy I'll be tempted to throw it straight in the bin, because man, no way will I ever read it again.
So yeah, a regret for that while stressing that mostly the fandom was fun and I still love the show and characters -- Brennan, you are still fine -- but bb!angsty writer me? Not so good.
