Apr. 28th, 2023 04:55 pmIt would have been my FiL's birthday today, so we had a breakfast meet-up with my in-laws. My MiL likes to leave flowers and a card attached to a fence at the top of the street where they used to live, and the cafe just over the road also has a plaque for him, where we also leave flowers.
So we left the flowers and had a tasty breakfast and I found the cafe is now an official Community Pantry, so for a small donation we left with three tubs of Pigs n Blankets gravy and some pork scratchings. I know the gravy sounds weird but I bought a few tubs when they were selling it off after Christmas, and thought it was delicious, so when I saw a shelf full of the stuff I knew I needed to take advantage.
After that, we left my SiL and her partner and took my MiL for a drive, ending up at the beach, where we were fascinated to see a ribbon-decked boat be put together. Turns out each ribbon had a message on, and people could write their own messages and tie them on. I did one for my mam and dad, James did one for my FiL and we tied the ribbons together then attached them to the boat ( photo behind here )
I've been binge-watching Ted Lasso still, though got spoiled for something that happened in this last season by the Breakfast morning show. I never expected the show to be mentioned, never mind have a cast interview with spoilers. And of course, binge-watching also leads to binge reading and I've been happily working my way through Jamie/Roy/Keeley fics. It's so lovely to have loads of new stuff to read again. But that show, I never expected something that I thought was just a comedy would have such deep moments.
I also booked tickets for Guardians of the Galaxy 3 for next Friday, which is two whole days after it opens. I did suggest to James that he ask for a day off on the Wednesday but he seemed to think seeing a film isn't a valid excuse for a day off. Spoilsport!
