Jul. 30th, 2023 02:50 pmI've just been out picking the first of my tomatoes and getting some peapods, spring onions and courgettes to add to a tray bake I'm making for tea. It's times like that that make the hard work of growing stuff worth it. Sadly, the carrots are going to be a huge fail it seems, all I've got is huge tops and no actual carrots, so goodness knows what went on there. I always have one fail crop a year, so guess this year it's the carrots.
Yesterday we took most of the old desk to the tip. It was an old, huge thing so once the top was in the car there wasn't much room left for the other parts so the back and a metal bar is still here to go tomorrow. When I got there and started to take stuff out of the boot one of the men who works at the tip came hurrying over and said he'd do it. They're not supposed to offer help but that guy and one other always do, so I got to watch as he did the work.
After we called into the recycling shop attached to the tip and we came out with four books, a brand new in-the-box aero press, a hand drill and a lovely church candle holder that complements the new wall colour beautifully, all for less than £10.
We went to see Mission Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One last week and it was good. Not my favourite franchise but entertaining with some great stunts.
Yesterday we also had to pick my MiL up as we were taking her for an x-ray later in the afternoon. But before that, we went for a drive and had lunch at the coast, went to the walk-in for her x-ray, to Costa for a coffee and then took her to Company where as it was late afternoon they were selling some stuff off cheap which was a good bonus.
James finally got the appointment date for his back/spinal injections for the 22nd of next month. I can't remember if I said but Occ Health at his work recommended he stay off until he got them as the fall, which set off an AMC flair, meant his back pain has been much worse than usual so they said it would be better if he had one long period of sickness than going back, maybe having to come home again, and then having to take more recovery time after his back appointment.
They've been good though, and once he's back he'll be getting appointments for the work physio and the counselling service as well as a phased return.
