Aug. 7th, 2004 09:06 pmWe ordered our car today. There were no nil deposit cars but what they did have were cars that previously had huge deposits for only £250. So instead of an Astra we're getting a silver Zafira 7 seat people carrier.Which does make me laugh as we're a family of three, but who knows what'll happen in three years. Motability is such a wonderful scheme. James is entitled to benefits due to being disabled and what you can do is have a car instead of the money, so every three years we get a new car as well as free tax and insurance. Of course I'd swap that for an old banger in an instant if it meant James didn't hurt with his disabilities or stupid people didn't think they have the right to stare because he looks different. Okay, getting down from my soap box and thinking of the shiny new car. Now we just have to wait three months for it to come.
We've been out most of today, at the garage first then out to the countryside. We were supposed to be going to this ford which has a good place for kids. After driving round and round the town we though it was near for a while we parked up and phoned my dad basically saying, help! In my defence Stanley and Stanhope sound similar right? It's not my fault we were almost 50 miles from where we were supposed to be. Also, there should be a rule that says your dad can't laugh at you in situations like that. It's my dad man, he's not supposed to laugh at me *g*
Big Brother was fantastic last night. But how did Jason beat Dan? My poor Dan, I've been rooting for him all the way through. I knew he wouldn't beat Nadia but Jason beating him? However, my night was complete when they showed Dan and Jason's big gay love affair to the tune of Gay Bar. Jason was mortified but really, if you're going to let Dan lick chocolate from your ass and kiss what do you expect? I also love Nadia so much. She was obviously so thrilled to be accepted as who she is when she came out. I was close to tears myself when she was asked why she didn't tell the others and they all stood shouting it didn't matter. Nadia, you're a star and an awesome woman.
Willow the angelfish is dying I think. First Angel last month now Willow. Poor Buffy's going to be so lonely. It's a sad thing, Buffy keeps butting Willow to make her move but it doesn't look good :(
Now I have e-mails and comments to do. I just wish I wasn't so damn tired on a night, which I shouldn't be as I slept almost 10 hours. Le sigh, I'm ready for the scrap heap I think. But I need to GIP before I go. Timbertrick this time as I'm nothing but a Chris slut who loves him with anyone. I also need more icon slots but that's a different story. Who knew 50 wouldn't be enough?
ETA: Because I know you all want to know what I think ;)
I think JC looked fantastic and sounded fine.

I like your logic. ;-)

Sorry to hear that...poor fishies.
I'm nothing but a Chris slut who loves him with anyone.
Stating the obvious, are we? ;-þ

*nods* So true. I'm still working on my 50 but I haven't run out of ideas yet. ;-)

Date: 2004-08-07 01:37 pm (UTC)LOL. True. But still, seven seats may be a few too many ;)
I like your logic. ;-)
But it's true. Your dad shouldn't laugh at you, it's just not right! *g*

I think I'd be offended if it wasn't true ;)

I keep making new ones and it breaks my heart to delete old icons. I need at least 100 slots.

I agree. Of course, it's easy to laugh at my dad...until he goes over the top and just annoys me. ;-)
I think I'd be offended if it wasn't true ;)
Yeah...and I'd worry about you. ;-)

I never understood if 50 was the max? Probably. Which is too bad, because...well, some of us want more.

Date: 2004-08-07 01:46 pm (UTC)I also agree that 50 icons is nowhere near enough. If it were possible for me to have more than 50 with my permanent account, I'd get them in a heartbeat.

Date: 2004-08-07 01:50 pm (UTC)I'd love about 100 icons. The thing is I say that and know if I got them I'd soon be whining for 200 and so on and so on.

Date: 2004-08-07 02:53 pm (UTC)I was wondering though, is this a life-long thing? And do you have to choose a car every 3 years? I mean, what if in 3 years time, you feel you could use some money more than a new car? Can you then choose money instead of the car?
You don't need to answer, hon. Just kick me and say I'm too curious for my own good ;)

It depends. You have to have a certain amount of disability to qualify for the benefits. Some people may have an illness that gets better and would only qualify for the time they were really ill. James is qualified for life as the disability he has is permanent.
What happens is you qualify for an amount of money each month. You can either keep that money and use it for taxis or other people to drive you ( but I assume most people just use it for living expenses )or you can buy a second hand car and motabilty will tax it for but you have to pay for your own insurance. Or the third option, which we do, is not get the money at all and get a brand new car every three years. It's a good deal, we get the car, free insurance for two people, free road tax and break down recovery.
You can decide to take the money rather than the car after 3 years and you can change your mind within the three years too, but it has to be a very good reason. Usually that you physically can't drive anymore.
Feel free to ask more questions if you like :)
