This morning I received an e-mail to join a TS fuq-Q-fest. I didn't really take much notice until one of my lists started talking about it. So being the nosy cow that I am I wandered over and joined.
And wanted to back out very fast.
The organiser has this list of challenges that you have to pick three of, can we say Sentinel cliches? Yes I thought you could. MPREG, virgin Blair, babies, changing into a woman, elves, hobbits, Blair mewing when having sex. I wanted to claw my eyes out!
But then in the cross over section I saw it. A challenge to cross Mutant X with Sentinel and man, if I haven't been thinking about doing that for a while. I'm divided. it *could* be okay, but to be honest some of the writers I saw in there are not ones I enjoy, and the owner seems not to have control over what's going on. But Mutant X and The Sentinel in one story!
One thing did make me gag with that crossover. She suggested that Blair and Jesse be brothers, WTF!!! Nope, no way, nada. Is it not possible to cross a story without using the whole unknown relative thing. Jesse and Blair brothers, it makes my head ache! Yet somehow I know I'll stay, because Mutant X and The Sentinel...so good. And I'm tempted to write something bitter and twisted to buck the trend of those challenges.
I've no will power, I know that.

And I'm willing to applaud you, just for the guts to post something "bitter and twisted" as an antidote to Virgin!Blair and mpreg. *g*
How does your TS AU come along?

Re: From Pat :-)
Date: 2003-05-18 11:21 am (UTC)I think the fest could be interesting, but the list of challenges was really cliched.
Lol, don't encourage me to go for the bitter and twisted angle, all I need is slight encouragement and I'll try for sure. Like you saw in my post I've no willpower at all *g*
My AU is going great. The first part is at the betas and as soon as I get it back it should be posted. The second part is mapped out and I should start writing it this week.
Did you read about it on my LJ, or are you on SXA? It's weird not knowing who I'm talking to but also very cool you took the time to comment. I appreciate it!
Re: From Pat :-)
Date: 2003-05-18 03:56 pm (UTC)At least from the TS-french-loft. *g*
And far be it from me to actually try and stop someone to write about virgin!Blair and mpreg, more power to them, but leave me out. *g*
Consider yourself slightly encouraged to go for bitter and twisted. *g* Stop fighting it. *g*
Someone *has* to balanace the insulin-craving thingies out. ;-)
I'm on SXF, but actually, I read about it here. *g*
Browsing live-journals, stopping by people I "know" and looking what's new. *g*
So, I think now maybe you've gotten a clue where to put me. *g*
Just look for the weird "guenther.krayer" addy, that's me, wherever it pops up. ;-)

Date: 2003-05-18 04:26 pm (UTC)Yeah it clicked who you were after I replied to that comment. I've just been mailing Alex telling her I thought you'd stopped by *g*
Okay bitter and twisted it is. Don't think that was what Ami was after, but no way could I think about writing something like Virgin!Blair, or MPREG...shudder. I firmly believe that anyone has the right to write what they want, but it doesn't mean I have to read/write it.
Ah, so you read about my AU here, cool *g* Mary Ellen just sent the beta back not thirty minutes ago so it should be posted sooner than I thought. Just waiting for one more beta now. My grammar beta, vital to have that *g*
Feel free to comment at any time, I like chatting, just too much of a wimp to do it onlist mostly.
Re: From Pat :-)
Date: 2003-05-20 12:38 am (UTC)Prepare yourself, get out the asbestos panties and go for it. *g*
AU: good, I'm waiting for an announcement on any list when you publish it.

...already eagerly rubbing hands. *g*
