The problem with going late night shopping is just that, late night. We headed off to get the uniform at about 9 and had a semi successful trip. We managed to get most things except shoes which is a problem. I suspect that we'll be hitting the shops tomorrow again. Plus there was the constant he has those at home from James, which yes, Corey has a full uniform but it's now too small. It's like a different world shopping late at night, we did our grocery shop at the same time, and the place was full of employees stocking shelves, so at any moment you could look back and a huge pallet loaded with cans could be heading right at you. So, shopping done we started on the sneaky part of the night. Remember there's no road next to my house so we park a row of houses back. Which means when we have a lot of shopping we tend to drive over the pavement and grass to our back gate. We're not allowed to do that and the neighbours can and will report us for doing so. This means we free wheel as far as we can, radio down, shutting doors as quietly as possible and scuttle from boot to garden as fast as possible. Not last night, one of the other maverick neighbours had parked his car on the grass and blocked our way, so we had to run past four houses, shopping bags in hand in total silence. After all that I left most of the shopping until this morning and just went to bed.

Yesterday was just a long day. I did get a nice surprise when I was reading the magazine that comes with my newspaper and saw Lance and Howie looking at me on one of the back pages as part of a boyband word search. Funny thing was all of Nsync were on there but only Howie for the boys. Which just proves Howie is special ;)

It's mam's birthday today, which I forgot until yesterday, as did my brother as he phoned to ask about it this morning. We were going to go up but she's gone out so I've nothing on today, which is good as it looks like it's going to chuck it down.

Reading the flist I see that it's [livejournal.com profile] connotations in a few weeks. My first ever slash event and the first time I'll meet any slashers. My [livejournal.com profile] seiyaharris (who's going to get personal snuggles ) [livejournal.com profile] nopsued and [livejournal.com profile] littledrop are you still going? I'm on one hand excited but on the other terrified and I know I'm a wimp, just work with me here, it'll get worse the closer it comes. Also, I can't see any pictures hosted by the new LJ feature. Which makes me cry as I was promised a picture that would make me die by [livejournal.com profile] _bettina_ and all I get is the red x of doom! However, I'm an adult and shall wait patiently. This does help me in a way though, I was wondering if I should stop using Photobucket for LJ pics thing and this tells me no.

Last thing and I'm off. Has anyone seen Carnival? It's starting here soon and I was wondering if it's any good.

I lie sorry. Anyone that offered to look over that damn trickyfish for Briticisms look out for it later. I'm close to finishing, I hope.

I had forgotten about the school uniform! (we don't have that in France) Do you happen to have a picture of Corey in his uniform? He must be so cute! Give him a hug for me ^^ When I was a kid I loved back to school - all the new school stuff and everything... Is he happy with his schoolmates/teacher/school?

And a big hug to you too, just because *hugs* :D

Okay, that making-you-park-that-far-away-from-your-own-home thing just isn't right. What about snow & ice in the winter?! That's DANGEROUS! Oi!

Hope all works out well with school & shoes & shopping & your mam's day (pardon me while I "meh") and feel free to send that Trickyfish; I'm almost done with my crack!fic for Lydia, but then again, I've been saying that for over 24 hours now...

They make getting dressed easier I must admit.

I liked mine apart from the blazer and jumper combo you had to wear in winter. You could hardly move your arms *g*

eh, sometimes people go a liiiiitle too nazi about them. one of my friends went to this really posh boarding school, and they had specific hairdos and shades of lipstick that they could and could not wear!

James had the worst uniform I've ever seen. A maroon blazer, black trousers and light blue socks. With matching blue shirt and maroon stripy tie. It made me glad for my black/grey/red colours.

I agree though, some schools go too far.

This is my favorite time to shop! I call it "moonlight shopping", because my supermarket dims their lights. It's cool because most of the folks shopping at that time are eccentric (myself included) and I like to people watch. I also find that most of the shelves are nearly stocked if I go in late enough. And there are never lines at the check-out!

That maneuver you guys have to do with your car sounds like a royal pain. It must discourage you from doing a whole lot of shopping at once.

It's the first time I've been that late and it's so different to what I'm used to, which is loads of kids and huge lines. It's weird being in there when there's more staff than customers *g*

The car thing is a pain. It's not bad when you're not carrying stuff but when you are it's a choice between sneaking down to the back garden or making loads of trips from the car park. We used to have a trolley but someone pinched it from the garden, so now we tend to drive the car down despite being warned not to do so.

I don't think I am going, purely for financial reasons. Maybe next year!

I think school uniforms are like curly/straight hair--you want the one you don't have. *grins* We had uniforms in grade school and we hated them. Partly because they were butt ugly (we thought anyway--who knew they'd get all fetishy-fashionable?), and partly because we wanted to be able to pick our own clothes, not have them be dictated to us.

And eee! New fic! Can't wait...

I'm definitely still going (working my way back through my flist -- currently skip=425) and you'd better not chicken out at the last minute. If you do, I'll come round and drag you into the car and drive you there myself. Okay, that may be slightly hampered by not knowing where you live, but just remember that I know your sister's LJ name, and I'm very determined when I have to be :-)
