Oct. 11th, 2004 10:31 pmIt's amazing what difference a few hours make. All the thinking about the job situation over the weekend was basically about one thing, that James' immediate boss has insinuated that she didn't want to keep him on as he couldn't cope due to his disability. Obviously that's so wrong so we were wavering about fighting it, but you know, no witnesses, her word against his and all that crap. I could tell you about all the angsting we did about this, the fact she's getting away with it makes me so mad, but sadly it was a choice of going without a fuss now and getting 5 weeks pay and a good reference against staying, fighting and maybe losing and getting no reference at all. We knew what we should do, but we've also got responsibilities that mean taking the best financial option and that was going now. He left for good today and will get paid until mid Nov, I'm still fuming about a lot of things but believe me, we didn't take this decision lightly and even though it sticks in my throat it was the sensible thing to do. Of course being sensible sucks but it's what we had to do.
It's like a load's been removed now we've actually made a decision. He has an interview in the morning and a load of application forms, so fingers crossed good things will come from this.
The fireworks were good, if a little short and I'm now busily writing away for the F5. At least I was until I stopped to do this. This means of course that I'm in a Timbertrick kind of mood.
Also, and this is wonderful. People are still sending me ficlets/drabbles and that makes me all full of glee, because people writing for me! What's not to like? And Jo's just wrote me the best thing based on my default and I adore my default so much and the ficlet that she wrote for it is perfect. *happy sigh*
So yes, it looks like we're on an upward swing again so that should mean no more angsty bad ficlets from me *g*
I still need to catch up on the flist and a load of comments/mail but doubt that'll be tonight as I'm in a writing groove and don't want to disturb it. However, I will do a meme because I haven't done one for oh, a day and am getting withdrawal symptoms ;)
