turps: (let me drift away)

I'm totally stealing this from [livejournal.com profile] adelate's journal where there's a small discussion about God Must Have Spent A Little More Time on You happening.

Now I'm interested if anyone actually likes the video/song so I present a poll and also for anyone who hasn't seen the vid I've uploaded it to you send it here

ETA: Let me add to the people who wish you could edit polls after posting them. I really didn't want to know the worst Nsync video twice *blush*

I have a question. Who is that boy in the video? Is that James Lafferty?

James Lafferty = Nathan on One Tree Hill. they make the same mouth-purser-thinggys.

also, I <3 the effect where JC is in the eyeglass lens.

I have no idea who the guy is. I haven't seen One Tree Hill either so am no help at all.

I like the JC eyeglass effect too, but still, I need to know what's going on. However, they do look pretty in white which is always a plus.

I need love is all the evidence that I, personally, need in order to conclude that Lou Pearlman is/was a Bad Bad Man. Jaysus that song is awful - it's like he hired someone to scrape up all the leftovers from a bad Take That recording session and left them in a vault somewhere to ferment for 7 years before coating the resultant paste in sugar and e-numbers and force feeding it a Casio keyboard.

The idea of a video for it based in a similar process gives me The Fear.

I think it's a pretty enough song, beautifully done. The video is kind of fun because, okay. There's a twenty-something single mom, whose kid grows up to be the same age as her. Then she's old but really still looks like she's in her twenties, and while he's off to war she starts shacking up with his girlfriend. Also, the guys in filmy white clothes, emoting their little hearts out. And bubbles. Right, there were bubbles? I don't remember. What's not to like?

Personally I love the video for Pop. Except for the beatboxing. Then I have to mock Justin fiercely. Because, AHAHAHAHA he's so bad! But, anyway. Love it.

Man, I =SO= need to go watch my video footage again, and I own the "Best Videos" DVD, but haven't watched it yet...

I think the video was maybe DELIBERATELY left open to interpretation, it COULD be about purity, it COULD be the guys as guardian angels, it COULD just be about the weird war situation and the guys are completely an aside... ..but that's probably giving someone back in the day too much credit, lol.

And I don't mind the song's title-length, but I most certainly do simply refer to it as "God Must Have Spent" if I don't just type GMHSALMTOY. Which is also too long for an abreviation. Can I change my answer? ;) lol

Should I be scared at that? ;)

Okay. The video is basically about a single mother (widow? war widow?), baby boy is the apple of her eye, he grows up and goes off to war, she thinks he's dead, and the soldier coming up the walk is bearing the papers, but GASP! its her precious baby schnookums! Oh, yeah, and some random love interest is briefly and randomly thrown in to try and disguise that the director thought it was an entirely different kind of love song.

Then again, maybe it was based on Justin and Lynne's borderline disturbing relationship, and the director was right on the money. If I ever meet him, I promise I'll ask.

I see. Your first explanation helps a lot but it has to be said it's the second one that's caught my attention.

Make sure you do ask if you get the chance. I'd love to know the answer ;)
