Thanks to the wonderful
satsuma77 who linked me to a good easy baking site baking went well yesterday. I can't say that I'm an expert now or anything but there's cakes and things sitting ready to be transferred onto trays later on. There's also 8 dozen buns waiting to be turned into half sandwiches but I'm trying not to think about those right now. I made a few different things but sadly my brownies didn't come out well. They taste fine but they wouldn't come out of the tray so now they're all misshapen and weird. Pushing the stuck stuff into the holes didn't help either. I did enjoy it though, there's something cool about making something from scratch and Corey and I will certainly do it again for Christmas.
What I didn't enjoy was the shopping before. By the time I'd done the school run and gone to the library it was past 6. James picked us up and we went shopping, searching for paper plates and stuff after suddenly having the realisation that we didn't have anything like that on our lists. Then when we got home we did the usual sneak down to our back gate in the car, lifted the bags out and the bottom dropped out. Which would be annoying enough but you remember that I live on a hill? Well the tins rolled down the path, under the fence and bounced down the hill. Thankfully they stopped before they hit the road but still. It was one of those situations where you have to laugh *g*
I'm really quite satisfied right now. This week has been busy but at least things have been done. The house is tidy and decorated ready for the visitors to come later, food is almost done, shopping done, laundry well in hand. So all I need to do today is do the sandwiches and put things onto trays, make some more fairy cakes, go and buy the decorations ( but do I blow up balloons here or at the club?) get Corey sorted and make myself look presentable later because man, first time meeting a load of his work colleagues.
I did take some time to watch Mutant X yesterday, and man I'm so glad I did. It was only a padded clip episode but so good. Every time I see that ep it's like a dream. Jesse taking a bullet for Brennan, writhing in pain. Getting him back to Sanctuary where Brennan is the one to sit with him and go into his mind to keep him going, risking his own life to ensure Jesse hangs on. Then the doctors says she can't knock him out while she's operating on Jess, and it's like dude! Is the writer a h/c slash fan because that's so a fanfic staple. Then the clips, Brennan and Jesse from season 1 to S3. Together! Reminding you how good they are together, then while I'm still transfixed with the h/cness of it all they slam you with the clip of Brennan telling Jesse he loves him and at that point I'm gone. Gone I tell you! What with the straining muscles when Bren is hanging onto Jess and the h/c and the fact Brennan is one of the most beautiful men on this earth and he loves Jesse, just man. It kills me.I love the show so much! Why did they cancel it?! Why!
Okay, I'll stop abusing exclamation marks now and go and read the flist. One day soon I'll catch up I'm sure. But before I go. You JuC guys, can any of you do me a favour soon?

Date: 2004-12-03 02:45 am (UTC)If not, try the milk chocolate cake on the be-ro site. Even if it doesn't work, it's still squishy and gorgeous!

Date: 2004-12-03 02:46 am (UTC)I've been making some of these cakes from childhood, from my Grandma's book which must have been a good 20 years old.
I think the only changes in 50 years has been the change to self-raising flour! My original book was excited because gas ovens had been invented!

In other news, I have looked far and wide for sdb swag/merchendise, but haven't been very successful. Do you by any chance like the color green?
You JuC guys, can any of you do me a favour soon?
If you get any takers, I might need them too. *is terribly stuck on teh sesa*
