They say that pride goes before a fall and that's so true. I was so proud of finishing the SeSa despite it not ending how I'd planned but still it was nearly 7000 words of finished story. That story has now been sidelined after advice from someone who knows more than me about the pairing I wrote and another has been started which hopefully will work better. 7000 words gone, it's to weep I tell you. However, I still stand by the fact that finding someone who's willing to state 'you can write better than this and that doesn't work so change it' is a wonderful thing. A wonderful thing that makes you want to stamp and scream but a wonderful thing never the less. ( is that one word? Three? ) Of course this only works in terms of people that go and tell you how to fix things, mean crit is just that, mean.

Other than that yesterday was busy with very minimal online time as it was Corey's chill out day with the cubs. He has his first badge and I'm insanely proud of him for getting it. Now of course we need to buy the uniform to stitch it on. I did however see the newest fandom kerfuffle, no comment on the actual incident from me but what amused me was the speed the picture was spread. I read one post saying it was locked in a community, went to make Corey's bath and when I came back the picture was linked all over. I fully believe that fandom could spread any news to any point in the world within seconds.

James was also overtaken by E-Bay fever this weekend. We've been selling stuff to raise money but also buying some last gifts and he went a little insane bidding on a Britney DVD for Kayleigh. It was down to two minutes and he sat over the computer refreshing like mad in case he was outbid. Then he bid again for higher, shouting no one would get that DVD but him. I was in fits of laughter watching, mainly because I know how it is when you're down to the last minutes of that thing you want.

Gah, the Mil just phoned to warm my niece has gone down with measles and has Corey had it being as she was at the party on Sat. He hasn't and neither have I, I'm going to be obsessively checking for spots now.

Now I'd better go write or really what I should do is organise my hard drive. I keep getting warning messages saying my computer doesn't have enough memory to run efficiently. I guess that means burning some stuff to CD or zipping it up at least.

Hey, you. E-mail me and tell me what happened. If you still have the words you wrote, send them to me as well. We'll figure out a way to salvage what you had because I know how hard it is to throw something all away. Either way, Just e-mail me.

I made this mistake of bidding on something at work once. It was hell trying to make sure I wasn't outbid while being unobtrusive about it. At least I learned my lesson. I think.

E-bay is an addiction I swear. I was driven to homicidal rage once when outbid at the last second. I still harbour ill feeling to the cow that did that ;)

*feels ignorant* I know you said there would be no comment from you, but what fandom kerfuffle?

I haven't even written 700 words yet.

Here's to hoping none of you caught it.

*nods* My main problem is that my folders, even when zipped, are usually too big to burn to a CD, at least in the order I want. ;-)

I know you said there would be no comment from you, but what fandom kerfuffle?

Lance was pictured holding a cigarette. It wasn't near his mouth but it looked like he was trying to hide it. Fandom exploded with some people stating how disgusting smoking is, some saying how hot it is and a million opinions in between leading to hurt feelings all around.

I haven't even written 700 words yet.

I've managed 1000 at this moment. If I stopped reading LJ I'd probably get more done *g* As for you, you just need a rest after Nano then you'll be rocking the SeSa!

One. ;-)

Figures *g* Thanks.

My folders are insane, my footage folder alone has over 36 gb in it. I started to zip it up but it's taking forever.

Okay...as stupid as I think smoking is (*winks*), it's his choice. And I don't know him, so who am I to judge, you know?

Thank you! I still have no idea where I'm going to go with it...but I keep getting ideas.

My shared pics folder (mostly fandom) is just 1.58 GB, so it's tiny. But I have over 8,000 mp3s and a whole lot of TV series eps.... My HD is only 75 GB, and quite full by now.

Exactly. I hate smoking myself but at the same time I won't judge him for what he does.

You made me curious and my pics folder is nearly 3 gb and my song media folder is nearly 6gb. That's without the movies, fics and tv shows that have their own folders. And I wonder why I have no memory!

Hope James got the DVD he wanted! My mom's best friend once wanted some sort of fondue maker, and she bid on five different ones to ensure she'd get it - and, of course, wound up winning them all.

I'm sorry to hear you're having some trouble with your story... are you sure you have to start from scratch?

You were a girl scout? Cool. It's a good thing I think, Corey certainly seems to be enjoying being in the Cubs.

I'll be happy if I write 7000 words in all! ;p

But see it's what you do with those words not how long it is that matters ;)

I'll be no practical help with the story, but I figured I can send you all the good story-writing vibes I can. They're my mama's patented good vibes, and they always work. *grins* And good for you for being able to hear constructive criticism, really.

Good story -writing vibes are very welcome and I must say they're good as story #2 is going well.

I figure what's the point of doing anything if you can't take constructive crit? I'm not the best writer out there, far from it so if anyone can point out where I'm going wrong I'm all for it.

Can you maybe send me a few words? 7000 words, wow. I'm glad if I can write a fraction of that.

Honest betas are the best. It's fine and dandy to say "This is hot" or "Insert comma here" but another thing to have someone say "So-and-so is out of character" or "This sentence/paragraph doesn't work". I adore constructive crit. ::hugs constructive crit:: It's really a great way for me to learn *how* to write.

eBay is evil...but in a very good way. Did James win the bid?
