The house surveyor came yesterday and now all we do is wait. I really hope he gives the valuation we need so we can re arrange the mortgage, it'll be nice to have some mad money again. James was at an interview which meant I had to deal with the guy, which I hate. I always get intimidated with things like that, especially when he started talking business. It didn't help he came at 8 when I was in the middle of getting Corey ready for school. But at least it's done now.
Yesterday Corey came home with someone else's coat on, the exact same style but much smaller so the cuffs were half way up his arms. What amazed me was neither he or James noticed, what he grew 5 inches while at school. I'm sure guys only see what they want to see.
James was watching a most horrible programme last night where the human anatomy was explained using live models and cutting up a dead body. They were talking about the sexual organs and I'm sorry but even the sight of a shaved naked pretty boy doesn't make up for having to see a penis get skinned and testicles cut up and popped out. Though even that paled against them hacking the groin area out of the body and carrying it across the room in a huge lump of flesh with a skinned penis hanging free. I was like, nooooooo!!! It really put me off reading something slashy I tell you.
In nicer topics. Happy Birthday Nick and Joey! Two wonderful men who deserve all the happiness they can get.
The rant meme has been amusing me these last few days. It's cool to see people rant,
_jules_'s fish rant cracks me up every time I think of it *g* I suppose it's kind of therapeutic, getting these rants out because you're told to. In the spirit of the meme have my mini rant about pairing names and the people who don't use the right ones. Because it's TrickC people, not trickykitten. Why? Because I say so and that makes it right! Told you it was mini. But yeah, I ended up at this site that used trickykitten and one, the kitten thing tends to annoy me anyway. Kitten? Please, that kitten has sharp claws and teeth that could rip you apart, and two, it's trickc, because it just is ;)
The pairing names always fascinate me because they just didn't exist to me until I joined this fandom. There was no ellisand or burgon in The Sentinel, so why popslash? Do we need pairing names because there's so damn many pairings? Why choey and not supertrick, trickyfish instead of fula? JuC instead of Joshtin and man, that hurt to write because to me Joshtin is all about Justy and Josh....shudders. Of course without pairing names newbies couldn't be baffled by Lambs, wtf?! Lambs? Or debate how to spell Basez/Bassez or how to say JuC. Ju rhymed with Dew Cee or rhymed with yuck. They're important things you know ;)
I added some pictures to my LJ today as I've sort of fallen in love with my icon *points up or to the side* It's nothing special but I just love it and if I hadn't done something I would have posted with it on every comment and post. So now the original picture is in my LJ next to my other favourite pic which means I can use more than one icon again.
Lastly before I head off, I've been coding today and also updated my site with the story I wrote for SeSa. Living the Life That You Dreamed which is a JuC AU with a tiny side of chola.

Date: 2005-01-28 05:35 pm (UTC)Me, too. Partly because I always have to think for a minute to figure what the heck they're talking about.
It's so patronizing, somehow.

Date: 2005-01-28 05:36 pm (UTC)That's better than Joshtin at least, but still...
*shudders*
Or is it a cunning way to get AJ in there? ;)

Date: 2005-01-28 06:04 pm (UTC)See the thing is I tend to agree with you about the Joshtin and it's wrong of me. I like reading JuC but it seems every story I read that uses Joshtin is about little ickle Josh and his tru luv Justy and they really do call each other angel. Why!? Tell me that!
*pets you and strokes your head*
Sure I'll make you a sandwich. What filling would you like?

Date: 2005-01-28 06:26 pm (UTC)JuC is different from Joshtin, methinks. Joshtin is indeed Josh and Justy, precious angels that love with all their widdle hearts, crystalline tears in perfect blue eyes, my love!! But JuC is actual stories that you might want to read. None of that saccharine crap. Actual plotlines. Actual characterizations. Most Joshtin is badfic, I think, and therefore entertaining to a degree. But I've read some decent Joshtin that I can stomach - and I'm supposed to be writing a Joshtin for someone, so I better bone up on my JuJu-angel references!

Date: 2005-01-28 06:43 pm (UTC)I do read JuC, obviously not as often as my Chris pairings but still enough to see that there's a difference between JuC and Joshtin stories. Which is fascinating really, does that mean all the teenie writers clan together in Joshtin groups and churn out loads of sickley crap while the JuC people produce the good stuff?
I hate Josh, Ju and Just too! Except early family stories for JC, Josh is fine then, but only then.

Date: 2005-01-28 06:56 pm (UTC)I always prefered FuLa to TrickyFish.
and the only pairing name that is as bad as joshtin is chrustin.
and in honor of the FuLa I give you a poem:
Fu: - sugar
FuJu: - a sugary fruit
FuJuLa: - a sugary fruit drink
FuJuLaJo: - an alcoholic sugary fruit drink
FuJuLaJoC: - a really fucking good time.
- my work here is done.

Between that and your story that's waiting for me you've made my night!

Date: 2005-01-28 09:07 pm (UTC)And re the mini rant on the pairing name thing? I'm so with you on that one. I'm quite anal as far as names are concerned on a good day but a pairing is, like, sacred or something and it's so bad that I sorta cringe when/if I read B/J for J/B. I mean... no, just no. And yeah, I know, it's just two letters not even a name combo like yours, but N.O *is obsessed*

Date: 2005-01-28 09:18 pm (UTC)Of course, because in the end they are just simple creatures made to amuse the girls... or something like that *g*.
Ewwww! to the horrible anatomy program. Yuck. And this brings me to JuC. It is always pronounced juicy. Why? Because I say so. It's not my favorite pairing, but it's not a yuck pairing. The anatomy program is yuck, JuC is not, because it is juicy. See? Very logical ;-).
And of course it's TrickC or Chris/JC, but never trickykitten. People are weird ;-).

Date: 2005-01-28 10:53 pm (UTC)I think you could be right, because they don't seem to be capable of rational thought ;)
LOL. Love the way you linked the horrible show and JuC. I always say juicy too, always have. I thought only Jessa said it yuck until James did the same, I was like, what did you say?! *g*
Yes, down with trickykitten!

Date: 2005-01-28 09:35 pm (UTC)but then the trend spread to other fandoms, Buffy, etc., which I kinda resent. it's stupid, but this was popslash's thing, and I keep thinking they stole it. ;)

Date: 2005-01-28 10:47 pm (UTC)No, I know what you mean. Popslash really should be the only one with cutsie names ;)
