Yesterday was a day of much mail goodness. A lovely card and promise from [livejournal.com profile] sheherazade_ii and a parcel of much Busted and Justin gorgeousness from [livejournal.com profile] interlock Thank you both so much ladies! *smooches you both*

Today I got the most gorgeous card from Corey that he made himself and of course my chocolate cake, which I've just had a slice of. So now I have the most terrible sugar rush. Chocolate cake, thick butter chocolate icing and malteesers on top. The sugar content is off the scale.

I have to say happy mother's day to all you Brit mams and guardians, which I think is only [livejournal.com profile] abishag and [livejournal.com profile] simply_fly_away. I hope it's a good one.

Now we have to go see our mams and do the family thing.

Malteasers are heaven. They're honeycombed malt biscuit balls coated in milk chocolate. Which sounds gross, but they're mostly air and therefore a great way of having a chocolate treat whilst still keepin the calories low.

Malteasers are the best non-cadbury chocolate treat out there!

IIRC because if it's position in Lent - traditionally this was the weekend that people who were in service were given a weekend off to go home and visit theirfamilies for Easter, whilst the big house was keeping Lenten modesty, rather than over Easter weekend when there would be big meals to cook etc. I've never been quite sure why American mother's day is when it is though.

ahhh! See, now that makes sense. Mother's Day and Father's Day here are just kinda' situated when there aren't other holidays. heh. Though, according to something on Google: Mother's Day is observed in the United States in honor of mothers on the second Sunday in May. Julia Ward Howe wrote a Mother's Day proclamation in 1870. She wanted to have an international day when all mothers of the world would stand up and speak for peace, so their sons would not have to die in war. In 1907, Anna Jarvis proposed a day to remember all mothers. .

hunh.

Happy Mother's Day!

And a malteaser (malteeser?) is what we Amwericans call a malted milk ball, yah?

And I think both dates are weird. I guess they have their reasons, and it's not like there's a better date all mothers have in common or something, but why celebrate at the end of Lent? Lenten denial=rather moderate celebration, soean't it? I mean, yay for soldiers being home with their mams, I suppose, but wouldn't post-Lent when it's "okay" to party again be better?

Meh. Religion. Whatever.

I think its the same. You mentioned the malt flavoring, and I doubt there'd be TWO of the things, hee. Uhm, Whoppers are the brand-name over here, beige box, red letters in white trim...

and I'm having the strangest compulsion to comment on merekats with malteasers... ..'slike a tongue-twister, only with spelling instead of pronunciation, lol

Happy Mother's Day, Terri!

Ooh, and you know who would make the best bond villian EVAR? KEVIN!

Because He'd keep his evil minions happy and live with them and eat what they eat and sleep where they sleep and expect them to not where their evil minion uniforms all the time. And he'd help interrogate prisoners like JC himself, but do it in this undeniably sneaky way, so that while his minions adorned their uniforms and tied JC up and shocked him and beat him up and everything, Kevin would sneak into the room after, looking bloodied and beat up himself like a little servant boy to the eeeeeevil crown and help fix JC up, stitching him and cleaning his wounds and asking him bluntly pointed questions that take JC's mind off of things, but tell Kevin what he needs to know and it'd be So EEEEEEVIL.

And, and, and, JC wouldn't really realize that kevin was really the heir to this evil thone and every night and every morning when kevin brought him gourmet meals like wine-sauteed shrimp laying on a bed of angel haired pasta with chardonay or french toast with french pressed espresso.

He'll look at JC while JC sits there in the chair, clutching at his mug.

They're not going to come for me,JC says, looking at him with steely blue eyes drowned with sorrow.

I'm sorry, Kevin would whisper back, holding his hand, and eating some of the breakfast off of his own plate of french toast.

I guess I knew what I was getting into when I signed up. JC sighs, tipping the cup up a little more. This is good.

They take care of us well, here. Kevin would say through his food. If you wanted, I could probably persuade the powers that be to let you join, proving you really do know nothing

I've told you everything I know, Kevin, JC nods, putting his cup down and picking up his fork and knife. But I can understand if they wouldn't accept me.

Well, what good would you be if you were just sitting here until the end of days, you seem like a well bodied boy, Kevin would joke and after they were done, he'd take the tray away and JC would go back to sleep.

And at dinner, Kevin would smile and not bring him the fillet mingon that they're serving tonight, but he'd bring him a pair of jeans an a comfortable sweater.

With a couple of tests,Kevin says, and JC looks at him curiously, You're in

JC would just smile and pat himself on the back for another mission accomplished.
