Apr. 30th, 2005 08:34 pmDr Who. Oh my goodness, I have no words except
Daleks! Half naked Dr being tortured! Rose nearly exterminated! Did I mention the Dalek?!
I love this show so much. I got shivers when the Dalek came onscreen, memories of being a kid and watching the show overlaid with sitting now with Corey as the blue light lit up and the Dalek was shown with that voice. I was enthralled the whole way through and knowing that Billie has signed for a new season didn't take away the fear when she didn't get out in time and was stuck with the Dalek. Then the Dr, in so much pain when he though he caused her death. It was pure tension in here I tell you. Oh, and man, the Dalek went upstairs! I mean, they're not supposed to do that but it did. It levitated up the stairs and...damn. *flails*
I did feel sorry for the Dalek in the end and that's something I never thought I'd say. When it wanted to feel the sun and was all squidgy and unthreatening without the armour. I understand why it wanted to die and why it made Rose do what she did and I suspect it's a good thing it did die like that, but still. Squidy thing that wanted to feel the sun *sniff* Though remembering how it fried all the soldiers helps that sympathy a little, and how cool was that? Hit the sprinklers, a burst of energy and bye bye soldiers.
I loved this episode so much, and a new pretty companion too. Being unspoiled is a good thing at times.

Date: 2005-04-30 08:23 pm (UTC)The only reason I started watching BBC Prime once upon a time was because they were running Dr Who. I came in around the middle of the Fourth Doctor and had great fun watching it. In my innocence I thought that when they came to the end they would just start again from the beginning and I would be able to see all the fabled doctors in action. But they didn't! They just stopped :-( And buying all the old episodes just isn't possible for financial reasons. So I writhe in envy when I hear of people that can watch it on TV. You are truly favoured by the gods!

Date: 2005-04-30 08:26 pm (UTC)Dr Who is on all the time here. Obviously the new episodes are on BBC1 but the old ones are always repeated on digital too.
Are you downloading the new series?

Date: 2005-05-01 12:08 pm (UTC)Thank you. I have a great affection for the Daleks, they're so scarily non-scary. I never know if I want to exterminate them, or help them up stairs and coddle them :-)
Dr Who is on all the time here.
In a strange coincidence I discovered today (through another person on my flist) that BBC sends streaming video. So I can view the old episodes! If I can manage to keep track of time - something I'm bad at.
These are the adresses:

Are you downloading the new series?
Downloading? When? Where? Please, please, please tell me more!! A new Doctor Who... *awe*

Date: 2005-05-01 08:44 pm (UTC)As for the downloads, the eps are up on the torrents here (http://btefnet.net/). I don't know if you use tv torrents but I go to that site to download Numb3rs. I don't need Dr Who obviously as it plays here but I know it's there to be downloaded by anyone that does need it.

Date: 2005-05-01 12:18 am (UTC)So am I!, I get BBC America but it's not part of the lineup which sucks big time for me. I've been a Doctor Who fan oh since I was 10 so I've seen just about all of the Doctors adventures, my three favs are Tom Baker, John Pertwee, Peter Davidson. They had some of the coolest episodes I thought, anyways just thought I would voice my Doctor woes*lol*.
PS. Thanks for adding me to your friends list by the way, appreciate it.

Date: 2005-05-01 05:35 am (UTC)Hi, Terri,
Like I told another friend, I'm so jealous of you UK citizens getting to watch a new Dr. Who. Drool a little for me, okay?
Now, I remember that you're getting serious about losing weight. I'm proud of you; you go girl!
I've added to my friends list, a lady called Zoethe. She has made some lifestyle and eating changes, and has lost 46 pounds since the beginning of January. (About 3 1/2 stone.) The thing is, she talks about it in her LJ, sometimes. I've friended her because she has a very practical approach, and I'm hoping to find it inspirational, get me off my duff.
If you thing it might help you to read about someone's success with a practical, slow and steady approach, go to
http://www.livejournal.com/users/zoethe/ When you friend her, leave a comment and ask to be put on her "fitness filter".
And good luck in your efforts; I'm rooting for you.
Linda
