May. 9th, 2005 11:01 amI think my computer was out to drive me insane this weekend.
chrism helped me sort out my virtual memory problem but everything else seemed to act up to make up for that. The most annoying of which was when Azureus wouldn't connect so I could download Numb3rs on Friday. I was so pissed I tell you, that's the last time I update the damn thing when prompted. Thankfully I remembered that
_bettina_ had the same problem so I went to see what she did, which was an uninstall and redownload of an earlier version. Which I did; eventually. When I could finally find and completely download the right file, which believe me was more difficult than it should have been. Then winamp needed updating and codecs installed which meant a reboot in which I forgot to shut down some stuff I wanted to save and of course it's gone now....sigh. Now all I have to do is find out why I'm getting slammed with viruses. Norton is catching them but my main address is getting hit almost 100 times a day, on Saturday I had over 50 from a Britney Spears fansite address alone. Though that did amuse me I have to admit. Oh well, at least I got Numb3rs in the end.
Kayleigh has gone on holiday today to Butlins with her friends. James is driving them down and they'll meet Lia there. He's staying overnight in Kay and Lia's chalet then coming back tomorrow and man, I want to go. Though no, as much as I want to go I wish Corey could have gone more. He looked so down this morning as he got ready for school but there's no way he can stay off in school time, especially as it's SATs this week. So I'm down to one boy until tomorrow :(
Now as I've been tagged by a few people for this now, .
1) Total number of films I own on DVD/Video: Not that many really, less than 50 I'm sure. I like movies but prefer tv and reading.
The last film I bought: I honestly can't remember.
3) The last film I watched: On the Line.
4) Five films that I watch a lot or mean a lot to me: I suck at this meme so much. Erm, I love Dirty Dancing, mainly for the memories as the best friend and I sneaked in to see it on it's release despite being underaged. I love the film too of course, 'no one puts Baby in the corner' cheesy goodness. Youngblood, I love hockey films. You always know what'll happen but still, when he scores the winning I goal I can't help cheering. Lost Boys. Keifer, the Coreys, Jason Patric, vampires. What's not to love? The X Men movies. It's the X Men, what can I say? Stand by Me. It's such a beautiful, sad, touching film that's a huge part of when I was growing up.
Before I go, GIP.
digital_diva made me this most gorgeous icon of my BSB OTP. Isn't it beautiful?

*GRR* Freaking Virus Emails...
Date: 2005-05-09 10:19 am (UTC)The virus emails are because someone with the virus has you in their address book or in their internet cache or on their comp somewhere - I'm getting it, too, on two or three different addies that I barely even use anymore.
Don't even bother trying to sort it out based on the addy that supposedly sent the email - it's almost never the one that actually did.
Nothing you can do but wait it out, I'm afraid - it'll die down soon. Until then, at least it's my Hotmail accounts, and the junk filters catch it all...
Re: *GRR* Freaking Virus Emails...
Date: 2005-05-09 10:30 am (UTC)I will wait but man, I smite the people who think releasing viruses is funny.
Re: *GRR* Freaking Virus Emails...
Date: 2005-05-09 11:01 am (UTC)Everyone's fussing at me to 'fix it'. *snerk* Dude, if I had that kind of power over the internet, I'd have a job that paid a hell of a lot more than I'm makin' now, that's all I can say.
Re: *GRR* Freaking Virus Emails...
Date: 2005-05-10 08:15 pm (UTC)And no lie about the better-paying job if you could fix it.
Re: *GRR* Freaking Virus Emails...
Date: 2005-05-10 09:48 pm (UTC)Shame you couldn't fix it, you'd be a millionaire ;)

Date: 2005-05-11 10:45 am (UTC)I haven't signed up, I am thinking about it because I love the boys a lot, it's just writing them that's the problem. My first stories in popslash were for BSB , terribly bad they are too, so I may revisit my roots yet. But I'm incredibly excited that you're writing for it.
I don't, thanks for the heads up!

Date: 2005-05-09 10:39 am (UTC)I like all the movies you mention in #4 except Stand By Me. Not sure why. Are there any owies in it? I can't remember. There are owies in the others and I suspect that might be one of the reason why I like them too....
And On the Line is so great. :-D
May I suggest that you and your boy play Sims 2? ;-þ

Date: 2005-05-11 10:06 am (UTC)There are owies in Stand by Me. That is if you class leaches attached to Geordie's groin owies ;)
We did play Sims 2. You know us so well *g*

*mwahahaha* It's borderline in my book. But then I have no idea how painful and debilitating that would be. Is he cute when he suffers? *eg*

Uh-huh. :-D Are there any screengrabs? *hopes*

Date: 2005-05-11 04:47 pm (UTC)Sadly no sims screengrabs, but it's okay as we playing a different family.

Sadly no sims screengrabs, but it's okay as we playing a different family.
Ah, okay. Do I need to make subtle remarks to get you into playing and screengrabbing 'that other family', or will you do it anyway? ;-)

Date: 2005-05-09 02:23 pm (UTC)Computer problems are awful. I hope things will stay ok with yours now.
For some reason I've been spared virus mail problems for a long time. (Knock on wood!) Perhaps the people who have my mail adress have become sufficienly security concious not to let it infect their computers in the first place? Whatever the reason I hope it continues!

Date: 2005-05-10 09:38 pm (UTC)I think my computer is sorting itself out now, I hope so anyway as it feels like I'm missing an arm when it goes off.
The mail thing is annoying me as I've free of them for ages now, yet all of a sudden I'm getting buried in the things. I really wish people would learn not to open them or get good virus protection but some people never do.

Date: 2005-05-09 05:45 pm (UTC)I finally figured out what was wrong. Apparently you should also download the new Java version with the new update and that should resolve the problem. You can download the JRE version at the Azureus website as well. It works for me now. But yes, I was very pissed off when it wouldn't connect again after the first update. *grrr*
