Four Sleeps!

The party went well on Saturday. We went early, were the first there in fact, so grabbed a prime spot near the door which was good as it got really packed. We sat with my brother and his partner and talked to various relatives as much as possible. Which wasn't much with all the people and the loud music. We left pretty soon after the buffet and went back to my brother's for a while, where I looked through catalogues with Kelly and talked baby stuff.
The only problem was mam. I knew there was going to be hassle when I phoned her at 1 to remind her I was leaving the dog at hers. She was at one of her friend's houses and was already well on the way to being drunk which wasn't a good sign at all. Sure enough she did her usual act later and long story short isn't talking to any of us and is in front of the committee at the pub again, where hopefully this time she'll get banned. It was Kayleigh that had to report her too, not that she had much choice in the matter. So yeah, the party was good and mam was her usual idiotic self which sums up Saturday nicely.
Yesterday we visited nanna then James and Corey went to Edinburgh with the BiL. He's a National Express coach driver so they joined him for a trip where all they saw of Edinburgh was the bus depot and a chip shop where they went for tea *g* Corey loved it though and is full of awe for how the bus toilets were emptied and how much petrol it takes. I stayed at home and watchedten back to back some House episodes and of course Numb3rs. I can't believe it took me so long to discover House and have developed quite the crush on Billy Kennedy Dr Chase. As for Numb3rs, I have . I enjoyed the episode, but not as much as I expected to. Maybe it was too much expectation after waiting so long and I'm not saying I disliked it at all, it's just not the best episode I've seen. For one thing they seemed to be pushing the het, I like Amita and that blond lawyer didn't bother me, except I watch to see the hot cesty love the interaction between Don and Charlie and that was lacking a little. I'm hoping it's because they had to introduce the new characters and things will get back to normal soon. Talking of which, the new woman. She's got the weirdest mouth and her voice. I spent most of her first scenes just listening to her voice because it sounds wrong somehow, and she never stops smiling, what the heck is up with that? Saying that I think I like her, even though she seems to have become friends with Charlie very quickly. I mean, she could have been there for a while, I'm not sure. But she was very accepting of his position on the team and the methods he uses. I'm reserving judgement on the new guy for now, I'll give him a few weeks to see if he annoys me or not.
Today James took the SiL to the hospital for a scan as her baby is due this week. Just after he dropped her off he got a call to go back as Keira, my niece, was ill and needed to go to the hospital. It seems she has a chest infection and has been admitted, which is the last thing the SiL needs right now. I think we'll be going visiting when James gets home from work and hopefully she'll be a little better then.
Last thing. Does anyone remember what the Firefox extension thing was that saved your tabs if your browser crashes? I lost it when I updated and I miss it a lot. Also, for anyone that speaks German, is Ich liebe Dich the right way to say I love you?

And "Ich liebe dich" does indeed mean what you think it means, but "dich" isn't written with a capital D.

Numb3rs!! I love it. They just recently started to show it here in Germany; tonight is the 4th episode, I think. David Krumholtz is quite cute!!!
And I'm sorry for not commenting much in the last weeks... I'll do better now, I promise:).

Date: 2005-09-26 04:02 pm (UTC)Yeah, my mam's her own worst enemy at times, but I did have a good time anyway.
I really love Numb3rs, the plots tend to be interesting and lets fact it, the eye candy is good ;)
There's no need to be sorry. I don't expect people to comment, I know you're busy and I'd much rather you were off doing something fun or important than worrying about commenting to me. So no worrying about it, okay.

Date: 2005-09-27 01:28 am (UTC)(don't let it fool you, German is the only foreign language I retain ANY fluency in; I've forgotten 99.9999% of the French I learned, and that wasn't much, heh)
German Most Basic-est of Basics:
ich=I. They only capitalize pronouns if the pronoun starts the sentence, same as any other word (unless it's the formal-you).
lieben=infinitive of "to love", conjugated with "ich"=liebe
dich=you, in the informal objective sense.
So, you could say "ich liebe dich" to James, or Corey, or your close friends, or a child you were being proud of or something, but adults you're not informally close with you would not say "dich". Sort of like Brit kids in school only addressing their closest friends by first name and the other kids by surname. German popslash fans might discuss Chris in all familiarity (and then some, just like we English-speaking do *g*) but they would address him using the formal "Sie". (Yes, "Sie" is formal-you and capitalized. The uncapitalized "sie" means "she" and is pronounced exactly the same. Why? To teach us English speakers a lesson about languages being confusing, 'cuz that really has NOTHING on English. Ah well.)
And just to be odd: ALL German nouns are capitalized. Every. Time. (Ich habe keine Idee. {I have no idea.})
*doffs cap, grins, bows*

Date: 2005-09-27 02:37 pm (UTC)I loved a lot of things in the season premiere even if I disliked others - which I rambled about in my LJ in length, so I'll spare you here lol - and I just hope it'll go well with the next episodes.
I liked Megan a lot but pretty much disliked Nadine - man, did everyone hate her? Cause I swear it sounds that way and I could almost feel sorry for her. I say "almost" because she seriously got on my nerves and I can't really feel sorry, to be honest *is mean* And you're right! Even her voice was annoying! Damn... next time they might think of choosing another 24-year old actress to play the part of a - supposedly - competent prosecutor *cough* And it's not even as if the writers didn't know how to write great female characters - so why did they screw it with her?
