Oct. 27th, 2005 02:05 pmProving I can be taught, when I woke in the early hours a few days ago with the shivers despite being hot I knew the infection o' doom was creeping back. One visit to the scary doctor later, her of the euro era Justin hair, and I was back on double antibiotics again. Flucloxacillin and metronidazole, how I've missed you. Not. Thankfully Corey is on half term this week so I was able to make like a sloth and sleep for most of the last two days. But I'm okay now, sort of, which is good as we've indulged in Sky Plus and the man's coming to install the new digi box tomorrow. Which isn't so bad except we're getting multi room too which means he needs to go in my bedroom, meaning it needs a good clean.
Sky plus sounds like a good thing with its 40 hours of record time, though James keeps warning me I'd better not fill it up with my crap, but really I have no idea what he's talking about *g*
Also, is there anyone willing to britpick two stories for me? I really don't need something like this.
Pulling into the garage for petrol, Chris filled up the tank, plaster covered fingers holding the nozzle in a tight grip. After paying he pulled up to the pavement and opened the boot, grabbing handfuls of crumpled sweet and crisp wrappers which he threw into the bin. Head tipped back to the sun, he enjoyed the heat against his face, though he wished he'd worn shorts and a vest, trousers and a jumper were really too hot for weather like this.
"Hey mate, do you have any fags?"
Chris looked at the man who'd walked out of the shop. "Sorry, I don't do fags," he said, before jumping in his car and driving away.
Or something like that anyway ;)
The stories aren't long and will have been beta read first so there'll be none of my horrible grammar and mistakes to wade through. One's trickc and the other is gsf, but without the f. That is if you think the f is a fuck, if you think it's a fic it's still there.
ETA: I suck, but you all knew that anyway. Happy belated birthday to the lovely
charlidos. I hope you had a fantastic day.
ETA2: Brit pickers have been found :)

Date: 2005-10-27 01:39 pm (UTC)I need to go read your journal to get all the backstreet news. SQUEE!
I was having fun thinking of the brit slang, things like those I used I usually remember but I tend to get tripped up on the little things, so I figure being britpicked is easier all round *g*

Date: 2005-10-27 01:26 pm (UTC)That story snippet is brilliant. And, you know, point taken completely, but now you've got me wanting to read a fic where Chris has a British doppelganger who visits the US and accidentally makes huge trouble for Chris just by a series of misunderstandings caused by the guy not speaking proper American lingo. *g*
(And I'd happily britpick stuff for you, if you'd like. autumnyte@livejournal.com.)

Date: 2005-10-27 01:36 pm (UTC)The last bit though? Where Chris doesn't do fags? I'm pretty sure that'd ruin your story. I can britpick for you if you'd like. I promise to pay better attention to what it's supposed to sound like. :o)

Date: 2005-10-27 01:43 pm (UTC)If Chris didn't do fags it would totally ruin my story, silly boy. He doesn't know what he's missing!
Thank you so much for offering, I'll send the stories your way soon :)

Man, yes. It makes me feel ancient sometimes when I think back, like there was no computers when I was a kid and that makes me shudder while remembering my time on the arc *g*

Date: 2005-10-27 02:33 pm (UTC)And records time? Is it something like a TiVo? And boy, I would kill for a TiVo, I swear! Not that we even have those here, mind you... and not that we have a gazillion channels like everyone else in the world, it seems *sigh*
Also? Loved your brit!scene ;-)

Date: 2005-10-29 10:00 am (UTC)It is something like a tivo. It's basically the same as the satellite system we had anyway, but this one you can record up to 40 hours of shows, in fact you can even record two shows at once which I thought was genius. You can press pause too, if you need to go the bathroom or something, then press resume when you get back and it'll keep going from where you paused so you miss nothing.
Man, I've been lusting after a tivo for so long too, but I don't think they do them here either, so I feel your pain.
Also, sorry for babbling about Sky Plus, especially as you're getting a mail all about how James had to re wire things last night and just arghhhh.
Also? Loved your brit!scene ;-)
Thank you *g*
