New House! At last, it's been gone forever! *wills torrent to download like the wind*

The FiL had a mini stroke thing yesterday. He apparently lost his short term memory for a while and got all disorientated which the doctors put down to a bleed in his brain. He's fine now and at home because they said they won't do anything unless it happens again, so the MiL has him on house arrest almost because she's worried he'll go out and it'll happen again. She's also told him to stop drinking so much, he goes to his club every night and drinks over 10 pints of larger each time, which is way too much.

That meme that's going around LJ where you ask questions about what happens at the end of stories is cool, I especially like the part where you can speculate yourself, because one of the signs of a good story is when it stays in your mind and you imagine what happens after. So you know if you ever had a burning desire to know if Justin and JC got their white picket fence in Travel On They didn't, JC threw Justin over for Chris, there was a big mess until they realised threesomes were the way to go, baby! Or if Justin was a good nurse to Chris after Measured in Beats He was, he dressed in a little white dress and cap on his fro and was a dab hand at giving bed baths, ask away or tell me what you think happens :)

Not enough functioning brain cells to ask questions, but--the only upside to insomnia is being awake when my friends in other time zones get up and start posting. *grins*

Yeah, I hope he mends quickly too. My MiL is terrified because he hasn't really been sick before, somehow I don't think he'll be out alone for a while.

Thank you--me, too. It's just work worries--I'm fine while I'm sitting up and distracted with the internet and/or books and/or Cubis 2. But when I lay down with the lights off, my brain starts churning and fretting. I'm trying to exhaust myself so I just collapse, but I don't know if it's working. Heh.

Of course they lived happily ever after! They're Jim and Blair, there's no other choice!

LOL. I should have known. I do actually know this one, in fact I have the whole series plotted, I just need to write the thing you know?

Anyway, it's this.

Hand shading his eyes from the overhead sun, Jim looked around, scanning over the main cabin and the children that played happily within its grounds. Casting out his senses he listened to the chirping of birds, the soft patter of animal feet against the ground, sounds that increased day by day as the earth slowly healed.

“Jim.” Grey curls tied back with a red twist of fabric, Blair climbed the hill, steps slower now but face alight with a smile as he slid into Jim’s hold, fitting together perfectly as they stood side by side.

I don't think this is what you'd like to see, because I tried to keep that story as realistic as I could. I wish it could be different, and you know I think years later it would change, just not now you know?

Justin stares at his coffee, twisting the mug in his hands. He can feel JC watching him, waiting for Justin to speak, but the words are dust in his hands, slipping from his reach.

“I saw your picture yesterday, you and Cameron.” JC breaks the silence, voice soft as he reaches for his water, his fingers pressing hard against the glass. “You looked happy.”

“We are happy.” It’s the truth and Justin can’t help smiling, warm inside as he thinks about Cameron’s hand wrapped around his own, her voice in the darkness as they lie side by side.

“I’m glad.” JC sounds sincere, is sincere, but Justin knows him, can hear the truth beyond the lies as JC runs his hand across his face with a low sigh. "It's okay, J. I know."

"I’m not sorry.” Justin needs to say it, looking up as coffee slops over his fingers as he moves his hand. “These last years, I wouldn’t change them for anything. It’s just….” Justin hesitates, knowing no words can explain how much he loves JC, and how much it hurts to say goodbye.

“Don’t.” Taking a napkin from his plate, JC wipes Justin’s fingers dry. “I know how it is, you don’t have to explain.” He crumples the napkin in his hand, fingers white as he stands.

“You’re going?” Spine like ice and fingers tingling, Justin watches JC shrug on his coat.

“I’ve a thing, you know how it is.” JC’s mouth twitches upwards, a thousand memories behind his eyes. “Be happy.”

He drops a kiss against Justin’s cheek and all Justin can do is watch him go. Because maybe things will change, but for now this is the right thing, the right decision. All Justin has to do is remember that.

Hm, I'm interested in what happens after Stranded. Do they ever get rescued or do they realize that they'll be stranded together forever and might as well make the most of it (i.e. have hot GSF sex)? Personally, I think I'll prefer a mixture where they do get rescued but are so happy about it that they still have the hot sex.

*sniff* Thank you for the little ficlet. With Mirror, I really didn't expect a happy ending anytime soon what with the tone of the story and especially with the current status of Cameron. But I love this, especially with the line where JC wiped Justin's fingers dry. It show a level of intimacy and just thank you!

This meme made me think about a lot of my stories, which was a good thing. As Mirror is present day, and I really think Justin loves Cameron, there was really no way to have a happy ending while keeping to the feel of the story. Saying that though, Justin and JC do love one another a lot and things do change, just not now that's all.
