Despite the in laws, my mam, my sister and her friend being here today, the kitchen is still full of buffet type food. We're going to be eating leftovers for days, I swear when I walk back in the sandwiches are multiplying. But yeah, I'm nicely full and everyone's gone, so it's just us again, which is nice.

It seems to be time to admit to SeSa stories. I wrote Moving Ever On, a story I still like despite it being overshadowed by many more much better timbertricks. Thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] nopseud for unleashing the attack dogs, [livejournal.com profile] ephemera_pop for the usual great beta action and [livejournal.com profile] jaciesplace for britpicking for me.

It was Raven who wrote my story All Roads Lead to Home, which amazed me as I didn't even know she'd joined SeSa. At least it explained how the writer knew me so well *g*

I've written 6 stories this year, 5 in popslash, 1 for The Sentinel. There were also various ficlets that I posted in fic requests and a story that I wrote for Lambs day, which I liked at the time then realised that really, it needed a load more to make it complete. So I never uploaded it to my site.

Anyway, the stories were:

Popslash:
30 Kisses (trickc)
Feel (gsf)
Hazy Like A Summer Afternoon"> (trickc)
Hooker AU Which was co written by CJ.(trickc)
Travel On
Moving Ever On (timbertrick)

The lambs if anyone wants to see. Changes

And the shorts I could find.
Choey
Trickc
Nsync group with my little pony Scroll down for mine.
Untitled trickc for Raven's bd

The Sentinel
Not Lost

Pairing/Genre/Fandom you wouldn’t have predicted in January, 2005: There's no real surprises, popslash continued to hold my heart as it had the last few years. I guess the My Little Pony thing couldn't have been predicted *g*

Biggest surprise: Writing the lambs I guess. It's no secret it's not one of my favourite pairings, but I was asked so tried my best to write something good. I just wish I'd done better.

Hardest to write: Travel On This story started life as my sesa for last year, and it went badly wrong. So I pushed it to one side and wrote something else. But I knew there was some good in that mess of an original story, and with the help of some awesome people I picked the ruins apart and ended with Travel On. I remember [livejournal.com profile] nonchop walking me through a beta on AIM, holding nothing back about the bad and the good, and man, some was harsh to hear. But I'm proud of how I pulled it together in the end, because at times I just wanted to delete the story and never look at it again.

Most Fun: Hooker AU This isn't a 'real' story as such. CJ and I wrote this in comments on one of my posts and it was a blast to do. It's unbetaed and rough and I imagine some people would react with horror for uploading this, but you know, CJ and I wrote this for the fun of writing it. For the expectation of waiting to see what would appear in the comment next, and why not show that?

Holy crap, that’s wrong, even for you’ fic: Nsync group with my little pony [livejournal.com profile] fic_requests throws up some insane requests at times, and sometimes I like to attempt them just for the experience of doing so. [livejournal.com profile] ephemera_pop asked for the Nysnc boys with My Little Ponies one day, and well. I had to give it a go.

“What on earth are you doing?” Lance takes a step back from the door, wary of getting too close.

“What does it look like we’re doing?” Chris raises an eyebrow, sweeping his hand over the neat line of sparkly mini ponies. “Come on, Bass. You’ve played with toys before, even ones that aren’t made of silicone and rubber.”

Joey laughs and high-fives Chris. Normally Lance would pretend to be insulted, but today any offence is hidden behind utter disbelief. Especially when he notices the ribbons looped over Joey’s hand and the tiny brushes balanced on Chris’ knee.

Yes, at times I do look back on what I've written and think what the hell was I on. ;)

Favorite: Feel (gsf) This story started life as a ficlet at fic requests again. But there was a challenge coming up for the [livejournal.com profile] sparklydarkboys comm and I figured expanding the ficlet would fit the bill nicely. I loved writing in this universe, and if I had the time I would have written a whole lot more, because come on, Chris and Justin with horns, Lance with wings, Joey with a tail and JC all lizard like, it has to be good.

Sexiest Moment: I can't write sex, it's that simple. However, I do like some of the moments in Feel.

Biggest disappointment: Is more what I didn't write. I'm still working on the follow up to Boxes and it's long and the one that seems to be liked by the most people, and to be honest, I'm scared that when it's done it's going to be this huge disappointment.

Sexiest: Didn't I just say I can't write sex?

Best: If you're going by feedback it's Hazy Like A Summer Afternoon.

Most underappreciated: Probably Feel. The story received very little feedback, which I guess I can understand. It needed to be expanded and the setting was a little weird but I had so much pleasure writing it that throwing it out there to almost silence was weird.

Risks: I don't think I took any, which is kind of sad. You know, my first fic of 2006 should be cramp, that'll be a risk *g*

Conclusions: I need to finish my WIP and focus more on the details of the story. I love writing, especially love writing popslash and I want to be the best I can be, that means focusing on everything, not just the initial first draft. Also, get it into my head it's possible to write without a challenge to prompt the story.

YAY for leftovers and bigger YAY for being all on your own now. Nothing like the house AFTER everyone has left.

And may I just applaud and give you kudos for all your writing efforts. I love writing, but in no way could I write as much as you have in one year! GO YOU! :)

Happy New Year, hon! :)

Leftovers are evil! They never really ever leave *sigh*

Also, get it into my head it's possible to write without a challenge to prompt the story

It would be the other way around for me. Get it into my head that it's possible to write even with a challenge and a prompt and a deadline lol

That's so true. After entertaining for so long it's nice to just sit and do nothing. I suspect we're going to have left overs for days yet *g*

You know what's weird? You say that's a lot of writing, but I've sat and read surveys like this that have had me gasping in amazement with people saying they've written something like 50/60 things. How can they do that? It's insane!

Happy New Year to you too :D

Tell me about it! I came downstairs this morning and they were still sitting there, just begging to be eaten.

LOL. Yep, that's true. More challenges for you, less for me!

Sorry, didn't hear you ;)

Challenges - or at least prompts - are so helpful, aren't they! The vast majority of my stories have come from something of that kind. And Trickyfish Day - not that long now! Go on, you can do it...

It's so very nearly impossible to tell what will catch the feedback funnybone for other people, isn't it? It does feel... odd, when something you really enjoyed working on doesn't get much response, while a little squib tossed out in fun elicits a quantity of squee. OTOH, if you get the *right* comment(s), quantity doesn't matter so much.

I think Hazy Like A Summer Afternoon was my favorite of your 2005 works, but lots of great stuff!

I so wanted to tease you that I knew who was writing your SeSa, but I resisted the temptation. ;)

*bats eyes at you and looks innocent*

I'm just surprised that you didn't find out ahead of time. You probably would have if one of the scenes I deleted had made it in the posted story. Brendan instead of Brennan. lol.

I think my favourites among your writings were Feel, so vibrant and sensual, and the Choey ficlet, despite it hurting so much. And of course the My Little Pony thingy for sheer outrageousness :-)

Thank you :)

I really love Feel myself, so I'm glad that's shared.

As for the ponies, I blame [livejournal.com profile] interlock ;)

Thank you!

You know at one point I suspected it was you who'd written my story. It was obviously someone who knew me and as far as I knew Raven hadn't even joined. She did so well :)

I wouldn't have done half as well as Raven. She did an awesome job. She let me read a bit before it was posted & I had a feeling you were really going to love it. ;)

The prompts really are helpful. As for trickyfish day, I don't know. I've written trickyfish once and it was a huge headache. I adore the pairing, but can't seem to get my brain around writing it. When I do there's this mental soundtrack saying, there must be snark! And I get all flustered.

I'm totally with you with the comment thing. I'm so lucky to get good comments, and often comments that people have taken time over. But still, it's weird when you throw out a ficlet and it gets more comments than something you slaved over.
