I think my family is trying to kill me off. First nanna came by to drop off Corey's card this morning. I was eating breakfast at the time and the first thing she said was, your house looks like everything's been picked up and thrown down. Which yeah, it did, because I'd got Corey off to school, James to work, walked the dog and was eating before doing the tidying. Admittedly it looked worse than usual because I'd left most of the stuff the last few days due to feeling rough. She didn't say anything else though, I think my puffy eyes and red nose of doom were proof enough I really did have cold. Then not long after dad phoned, saying he and his partner were going to call up to drop off Corey's gift. Now, they wouldn't comment if the house was a mess, but still, being thought a slob twice in one day is twice too many, so I managed an insane burst of productivity when everything was done. Well, the stuff that could be seen anyway ;)

They left before I went to school, and man, dad's Parkinson's is getting so much worse. His speech is being affected and his face is so stiff and it's so different to how he used to be. Pauline was telling me he can't get any benefits because he's not classed as disabled enough, and that sucks you know? He can't drive, is wiped out half the time, has problems doing buttons and stuff like that, gets frustrated talking and they say he's not entitled to help. Right now he's living off his fireman's pension but that's hardly enough to keep them going. Plus there's the extras, like from April every OAP and disabled person is entitled to free public transport here, but he won't be able to take advantage of that and it just annoys me so much.

But yeah, at least things are tidier now, which is a good start to the things I need to do ready for the birthday weekend. Why did I ask the relatives over? Why!? I need to go to Asda later and buy a cake, plus balloons etc which'll be fun. It means I can pick up more cranberry juice as I've none left and that's just wrong. Also, coming home from school I bought tissues, and they have lotion. They're sturdy and pettable and just lovely. Really they're the Chris of the tissue world and I love them. And now I can use my lovely tissues on my poor red nose, because man, looking like rudolph here.

Also also, I have a drink that [livejournal.com profile] luxshine recommended, and it's so good. Oh while I remember, luxshine drew the cutest ever Nsync picture you should all go and see.. It's so adorable. Where was I? Oh yes, I have a few hours before I have to go out again, and in that time I really want to watch House and Supernatural, and hopefully add some words to the [livejournal.com profile] sparklydarkboys story I'm writing. Or I could read the flist while thinking about my next Chris post. That would work too as I can do that while making tea. Okay, I have a plan! *g*

Blah. I hate when relatives drop in indecently early. Sucks. There should be rules about this.

*sigh* [livejournal.com profile] sparklydarkboys - my fic is eating at me again. I reread some and I reread more and yeah. Bunnies want to play. :-D

It's so annoying to be caught when everything is still upside down from the morning rush. So yes, they should be rules. Never visit before at least 11am. That gives me a chance to get pulled around and things done that need doing.

Oh, more Den fic. I can't wait to read! Mine's coming along nicely, that is when I actually have time to sit and write.

It is DAMN annoying. That happened with us once right after Lee got hurt. Oy. His mom and aunt wanted to come down and see him and we were JUST getting up and the house was a WRECK. Yeah, thanks folks.

You make it sound like I write good fic or something. I feel so mediocre compared to some people. ;-) But thank you!

because he's not classed as disabled enough, and that sucks you know?

Dude it does suck and it's so fucking unfair! So what! The man isn't suffering enough already? I just - I hate how the whole system is so cold and so rigid that it doesn't give a shit about people and how difficult their everyday life is *fumes*

See, I'm even using my Ryuchi icon!

Exactly. The system is supposed to help, but it fails in so many ways. He's suffering so much at the moment, and something as small as a bus pass would help a lot. Yet he can't get it because he doesn't pass some stupid guideline about how disabled a person should be. It just makes me so frustrated with things.

Perfect icon too!

Has he appealed against the decision? From the sounds of it he should be at least be getting the lower rate for care.

Hee. I love you, lady.

The problem is the parkinson's make it difficult for him to talk and write, so he gets frustrated with things and won't push for what he's entitled to. I suspect it's tied to his former job too, he spent so many years being this healthy tough fireman, to be someone that can't do things now is killing him and he'd rather let things go. Of course that doesn't help him or his partner in the long run.

Hee. I love you, lady.

LOL. Thank you. Love you too *smooch*

No, it's Corey's birthday on Sat. We're just starting to get things ready now is all *g*

He really should have some help. It really annoys me that he can't get any help at all.

*smooches you*

Erk, that's ridiculous that your father can't get benefits for that level of Parkinsons! It's such a horrible disease, too - my grandfather had it - so the very least would be getting the recognition he deserves.

It really is a horrible disease. He's only been diagnosed a relatively short time and it's frightening how fast its progressed.

He really needs to fight this, but at the same time I can see how it would be hard for him to do so.

Very much so. The last thing you want to do when you're trying to deal with the new restrictions on your body is the beauracracy. It's just another strain on your mind and health :( Regardless, I hope they loosen up the guidlines a little so that he meets the requirements.

It sucks about your dad. I really, really don't understand that kind of desitions. What does a man has to do to get the benefits? be half dead?
And just when I thought my country was backwards.

(Also, thank you so much for the pimping. I'm really glad you liked them)

Sadly I think you do need to be half dead to get benefits here. Which sucks a lot.

You're welcome for the pimping. If I see something I like I like to point other people toward it. I hope you didn't mind btw.

*pops in to say hi* - but I won't look at your house, I promise. ;)

Sorry about your dad...that's so unfair.

I currently have a cold myself and I covet your Chris tissues.

Hope you have a great birthday weekend. =)

Hey honey. You're a miss around here *grabs you for a stealth hug*

You're welcome to pop in anytime, just kick the mess aside ;)

Yeah, it is unfair :(

My Chris tissues are the best, so soothing on my poor nose. I hope you're feeling better soon yourself. Colds suck.

Thank you! It's going to be busy, but fun I hope.
