I was waiting for Corey today and he was a little late. He told me he'd had to go see the headmistress because two girls from his class were hitting him coming out of school, and had done so yesterday too. He gone and told someone and I told him that was a good thing to do, but man, I was pissed. I've always taught him not to hit, he's bigger than most kids his age and he'd never think of hitting, or even hitting back. It's something James and I, and other members of my family disagree with. They say he should be toughened up, hit first if needed, but I totally believe that raising a hand is wrong, in any instance. But still, I'm so annoyed that they're hitting him like that. They're been kept in each night until he's off the school grounds, but still, one of them visits her nanna who lives opposite my mam and damn but do I want to tell her if she touches my kid again I'll....well, I don't know what I'd do because I wouldn't hurt or hit, but I want to do something.

Anyway, nicer things. I've just sent a story off to beta and now it'll be chopped up and I'll fix it and it'll be better and then I'll only have 24 stories to write for [livejournal.com profile] slashfic25 I've an idea for my dragon story and have a handle on how I'm going to work the [livejournal.com profile] wtf27 stuff. Now, if only lambs inspiration would visit. I also realised I'd applied for the wtf thing but hadn't actually joined the comm, because I'm just that smart. Oh, and I caved and joined. You knew I would right?

Freesia is still on top of the kitchen cabinets but came down for a few hours last night, and has just scuttled along the hall to use the litter tray. This is a positive step forward and I think she's settling in a little, which is great to see.

Now though I'm trying to catch up with the old flist before going out for a walk with James when he comes home from work. It's a beautiful night and just perfect for a stroll at the coast.

I feel your school/bullying/violence frustrations. I've been there with both kids.

It's totally frustrating. I want to shake those girls and ask how dare they? Instead I talk to the school and try to sort things out.

You should totally join! No deadline, any pairing, you know you want to write tentacle stories ;) Plus, more you stories. It's a win win situation.

I really hope, desperately at times, that bullying has not really escalated to the level it appears to have and that it's always been like this but now we talk about it more. I'm terrifed to think of these kids growing up and having children of their own and what it means we as parents are doing to these kids right now. [ok, I think maybe, just maybe, I'm watching too much Law & Order]

You are not helping! I already have 100 stories to write!!!! [tentacle.. that and the media crossover are the ones that have stopped me!!!! I only do popslash. How would I do a media crossover?? Lance/Rod from OTL? AAAAGH!]

I hope bullying is just talked about more now, because otherwise it means it's shooting up at a horrific rate. I see so much on the news and it scares me, kids being bullied in person, over their phones, on websites. It seems there's more and more creative ways to hurt people and it's wrong. I think disinterest is behind a lot of this behaviour, and sadly I can't see that changing that much.

You can do a tentacle story, I know you can. As for the media crossover, Lance/Rod sounds wonderful. You could make it a two parter with the twin prompt ;)

I often wonder just how much longer the world can really go on as it is.

You are a very bad person. >:-p

Meeep on Corey getting picked on at school, especially by girls. What's wrong with them! Avery and I are of the mind that you don't raise your fists to someone in anger, but we also want the boys to protect themselves against others that do. Luckily we haven't really had to deal with it at this age, but I cringe to think about it when they get older.

*hugs to you and Corey*

It's such a fine line to walk. I hate the thought of him being hit, but at the same time, he should be able to defend himself. Thing is, he's so big for his age that any defense would look totally one sided. Him picking on girls. It sucks.

Thanks, honey.

Gah. Those girls. Lovely. I love what you're teaching Corey. I think it's terrific. But yeah, those girls have issues. Or something.

*hugs you all*

Those girls totally have issues. It makes me wonder what their parents teach them.

*hugs you back*

What the fuck is wrong with those girls, hitting Corey argh! It's a good thing he felt like he could tell someone. Hopefully it'll get sorted out soon. Poor little guy, this sucks *shakes head*

Oh, and I caved and joined. You knew I would right?

That's a rhetorical question, right? *hides*

It's a beautiful night and just perfect for a stroll at the coast.

Sounds lovely :-)

I'm so glad that Corey has seen someone about the girls and not suffered in silence *hugs him*!

Oh, Freesia sounds like she is making progress. She will probably always be a bit jumpy though even once she is used to you.

It's a beautiful night and just perfect for a stroll at the coast.

Can Mouse and I join you ^_~?

I know a lot of children don't mention stuff like this and just suffer in silence, so I'm glad he did tell. I've told him it was the right thing to do.

I think you're right, Freesia will always be jumpy, she looks like that kind of cat. But she came down again this morning for a few minutes. It's insane how pleased I am when she actually gets off the cupboards *g*

Can Mouse and I join you ^_~?

That would be the best thing ever!

hope your walk was lovely ;)

And poor Corey - although he did the right thing. Unfortunately, if he was to fight back he'd end up getting the blame because he's the boy and grrrr. Some people just *suck*

It was a wonderful walk. Highlight of which was seeing Tex run in the ocean and hit a spot much deeper than the rest. One minute he was there, the next gone. Mean maybe but it cracked me up.

That's one of the many things that's annoying me with this situation. If he did fight back he'd be seen as the bad guy. He's much bigger than them both and like you said, boy against girl. It's so wrong and I just can't believe some children. They really do suck.

thing that's just occured to me : Corey went to a teacher, they've come up with this plan to keep the girls behind to avoid a repeat, and at no point has the school contacted you? Huh? Maybe worth having a chat with his teacher, just to make sure you've got the full picture?

[file safely recieved this time - yay story!]

We had a chat to the teacher this morning, but only briefly because school was starting. There is a plan in place to keep the girls back and their parents have been contacted, but you're right. It's never clicked that the school should have contacted us too. I'd like to think they thought it was a one off on Monday and we've contacted them before they contacted us when it happened again, but I can't be sure. I hope so though.

I'm glad it got there, I swear my email is on crack at times.

I'm so lucky living relatively near the coast. A 15 minute drive and we're there, and it's a drive we do often.

Everyone should be able to walk along the beach in the moonlight.
