It's been all about the water in the turps household lately. I realised the kitchen lino was squelching when it was touched, which meant either a leak from the dishwasher or washer. Yesterday the FiL came through to see if he could fix it. Cutting long wet hours short, he did fix the leak, but to do so had to turn off the water to my dishwasher. Which isn't the end of the world I know, but still.... Hopefully we'll get the part to connect it again this weekend.

Today we've put up Corey's big ass paddling pool. It's a six foot job but needed a good clean after being stored all winter. While it was filling I got the urge to get in, so I did. I mean, clothes can be washed and dried. I soaked and splashed about a while, then James and I got on with washing the path. It's all mossy so he had the bright idea to use some kind of washing liquid, and dude, did it foam up! There was a river of foam going down the path outside our house. Apart from that I've been offline most of today as Kay was researching her new tattoo. Which takes hours apparently. So I caught up on some TV shows while she did that. E. I thought of you when Neighbours was on. Sorry I missed you today :(

I've really enjoyed the variety of stories in [livejournal.com profile] pensnest's Dragon Challenge. Behind the cut are what I thought of the stories, and guesses about who wrote them. I have to say here that I suck at guessing. Out of all the sesas I've been involved in only once did I think I knew who wrote a story. I was wrong, So, I've guessed but expect a big old zero success rate.

Spoilers for the dragon stories behind the cut.

The BLF -- I really like stories that involve all five, and this story sure did that. Their interaction was fun, and I loved the dragon hunt scene. JC and Chris singing Rocky Horror songs. Just, so much glee. Some parts of the story had me laughing so much, like this
Four bars into God Must Have Spent... there was an earsplitting bellow from the dragon, and three bushes went up in flames.

"Obviously a music-loving species," said Lance, but very quietly
The dragon has taste at least ;)

I suspect this is by Pen. It just has her feel about it. The hint of trickyfish, the humour, it just says Pen to me.

Chasing the Dragon -- A fucked up angsty hurty trickyfish. I loved it. Where Lance is concerned, Chris is a junkie. It doesn’t matter how crappy the high, how wretched the trip, or how fucked up the hangover, Lance is in his blood, like a drug, like an incurable disease. Just ouch, the third last paragraph slices like a blade too. Painful to read, but so good you want to re read. I did anyway.

I'm thinking Silveryscrape. Not sure why, just how powerful the words are.

Day Tripping This is comfortable and lovely and matter of fact. Like Chris being a dragon is nothing special at all. Loved the descriptions that made me feel I was on a grassy bank near a river.

He grabs a damp tip and yanks, wrapping it around his hand and wrist until Chris hisses, a humid bath of air that washes over JC's entire body. JC lets go, and the tongue-tips curl back into Chris's wide fringed mouth.

Hee. Tongue pulling which reminds me of beard horn pulling. Writer? KC? Not sure though.

Habitation of Dragons. Another I loved. Justin and his Stuff made me giggle, especially at the thoughts of him taking the trainers from people that come near. But there were hints of sadness too, him trapped in the warehouse, and of course, him thinking about his special fans. Which added a delicious creepy element. I liked how the guys were shown relating to Justin, especially Lance, who of course would want to fly.

I actually know who wrote this, so, no guesses.

Metaphorical -- A story that needs re reading, to try and get the meaning behind it. I enjoyed the idea of them all stoned, but really, they had me as soon as I realised it was euro. Just, lovethosesomuch!

You know, I'm wondering if this one is Silveryscrape's instead of the one above. Probably because it's threemanbus. Man, I suck at guessing.

Not So Fragile Sweet and lovely. “Marble because it’s hard on the outside, fragile on the inside,” Lance explained. “Like someone I know. Opal for your birthstone, black because it’s rare and special, emerald for mine.” That part had me melting.

Paramore -- I enjoyed reading about this world. It was fascinating seeing the little details, and I'd have loved to see more of this universe. I just wish Kevin wasn't always used when someone stern faced was needed. But that's me, nothing to do with the story.

Prone -- I loved this story so much. Chris is just, Chris, and seeing how he's reinventing himself yet again, seeing his relationship with Lance, is wonderful to read. I enjoyed the dialogue and the pacing, just everything. I'm guessing Sola Fiamma, it just feels like her stories for some reason.

A Secret -- . This feels like Raven's. It's Chris and Nick, all the bsb and nsync are mentioned. It just feels like a Raven story. Chris can hear dragons. I love that. And the dragon's themselves are described so gorgeously,

Spot -- Lance's imaginary dragon, so cute. I have to admit I was hoping for someone else in Lance's bed, but it was not to be.

Strings and Ceiling Wax -- Okay, the thought of Kevin and Nick singing Puff the Magic Dragon makes me smile, a lot. By [livejournal.com profile] beckyo I think, due to it being Backstreet.

Sundreams -- Another story I loved. Lance flew in space, and can take the others with him! That's just, whoa! And gives me the biggest grin thinking of it. I so enjoyed all the guys in this, they're so connected and it makes lovely reading. I know who wrote this, but even if I didn't. I would have known from the style.

Tirante -- Ouch, poor Chris. I hurt for him, and the last line is a killer. I love the way this is written, the structure especially. But it's Justin rubbing cream into Chris' back that gets me. They're just... man, no words. They're just so there and then the end happens and, ouch.

A Treatise on the Habits of the Greater Blue Horned Dragon A great story to end the challenge with. I enjoyed how the story was structured, the way reality was so different to what they'd imagined.

Now though Kitchen Confidential has started here, so I'm going to check it out.
